That being said, listening someone known to study a given topic is far more understandable than listening to uninformed-aging-gay-has-been-entertainer.
Why on Earth, would anyone look to a has-been entertainer for their guidance or opinions on religious matters? Is he known for a degree in Divinity or something? Is he a well known Christian scholar?
They were human (as someone already pointed out). They made a grievous mistake (disobeying the Lord), and consequences followed. This seems to happen every day now doesn't it? :)
If nothing else, I believe he got more people to read the Word than had ever done so prior to his revolt against the Roman Catholic Church. More people getting the Word is good. I support anyone who questions the religious status quo; ask questions, get answers, study the Word... when done...
