I think the problem was that the LSA didn't want people to think that the Baha'i Faith "accepts" people that have dark skin, dreadlocks, play electric guitars and drums and smoke pot.
I can see that. They want to project a certain image. Now a dark skinned man in a nice suit and short hair...
Yeah, I sent that one post to you before I read this one. That's exactly what I was trying to say. Can Baha'is push love, respect, and acceptance of all religions without pushing their beliefs that Baha'u'llah is, essentially, the only way to unite and bring peace to the world?
I don't think...
The talk was given at a Reformed Jewish Synagogue. I can see how a liberal minded person in any religion in a way "accepts" these other prophets of other religions. But it's the "good stuff" like love they neighbor. Any dogmatic or doctrinal stuff isn't what they care about.
So, I think those...
I remember one about that people are created "noble" and Baha'u'llah then says then why do we "debase" ourselves.
The Baha'i that told me that was using it against the Christian belief that we are born as hopeless sinners until we get "washed" in the blood of Jesus.
From what I remember, the...
Of course the Ahmadiyya and Scientologist teach their people to be kind and loving and all that... And they also teach them about things that Baha'is don't believe are true. But so do Christians, Buddhists, Hindus and the rest.
There is common ground there somewhere. But if Baha'is don't even...
My Baha'i friends were very liberal Baha'is. And it caused problems with those Baha'is in leadership positions. One of them had set everything up to have a Reggae Band play at the San Diego Baha'i Center. I don't remember who gave him the impression that it was going to be okayed by the LSA...
Does the Baha'i Faith accept the conservative, fundamentalist side of any major religion? And what does it mean to "accept" them? Agree that their beliefs and doctrines are true? Baha'is don't do that.
Okay, step one... firmly establish the unity of all people the world over. That's a huge first step. What are the baby steps that we need to take first?
Probably eliminate all prejudices. Right? Probably become nicer, more loving, more humble and all the good things? Since how can we have...
Unfortunately, "teaching" the Faith is part of what is expected of a Baha'i.
And what is it that they are told to teach? That the Promised One of all ages has come. He alone has the teachings that are needed to bring peace to the world. Read his writings and see that it is true. Then, if you...
And if applied to Paul's writings and other things written in the NT, would some of the things that Christians believe and teach hold up?
And you don't think the Ahmadiyyas and Scientologists teach the virtues?
And if those are the things that bind us, why don't you talk about them as a way...
The question was... If you went back in time. By using Baha'i beliefs, there is no way a Jew should accept a religion that teaches its prophet is God. Plus, it was early on when Paul made following the Law unnecessary. The Law which the Jewish Bible says pretty much that they are to keep it forever.
Okay, Muhammad's list... What did he call them? Prophets? Manifestations of God?
Who are in this line of Buddhas? Are they called Manifestations of God or Enlightened Ones?
And who is on this Hindu list of Avatars? And are they Manifestations of God or Incarnations of Vishnu or one of the...
Or, after thousands of years of worshipping nature Gods, people developed the idea of a supreme God. After a while, all the other Gods got dropped and the belief in there being only one true God took hold.
But ever with that, we do have the Christians trying to figure out how to keep a belief...
Like the founder of the Ahmadiyyas? Or how about L. Ron Hubbard? There's some religious teachers that even Baha'is don't accept.
And for some Jews... I'd imagine that Jesus, Muhammad, the Bab and Baha'u'llah teach things that just aren't compatible with their beliefs.
So, what are they...
And how many nations have been "on fire" with war since Baha'u'llah died?
But I guess he did send some of them letters saying that if they don't listen to him, there will be wars.
But God has tried that before... sending a "nice" guy to tell everyone to love each other. I thought they end...
Okay, let's use Jesus as an example.
And Abdul Baha' says, "What harm" could it cause?
Knowing what you as Baha'is know, if you were transported back in time, what would you tell the Jews?
"Yes, believe everything that the Christians are telling you. It is sure guidance from God."
Except...
Thanks for your input. Another thing that I ask Baha'is is if they accept the Quran version of the birth of Jesus, that Mary gave birth to him under a date palm, or the Gospels version that has him being born in a manger in Bethlehem.
I don't think any Baha'i has responded to that. And I can...
Of course, it's there beliefs. They have to show how God sent several "manifestations" that brought new teachings from God. They call it "progressive" revelation.
And it's kind of there with Christianity. The Jewish message was given to show people that they couldn't save themselves through...
Well, he's got you there. I think? But what is this "new creation"? If there are still people that don't accept it, then what's so "new" about it?
It's still some new religion making all kinds of unsupported claims of a God that has sent a new messenger to show us the way.
Has any religion...
Does any religion other than Baha'is makes "manifestations/messengers" out of Adam, Noah, and Abraham? And as I always mention, even Moses wasn't perfect. The Baha'i Faith by making them "manifestations" is claiming they were "perfect" reflections of God, that they all brought a book and started...
