I tried out the beliefnet quiz too. My beliefs align most closely to the Baha'i Faith. Sikhism and Orthodox Judaism are next but I can’t imagine ever converting to these religions. The most likely contenders are Christianity or agnosticism.
I thought Iran sending missiles and drones to Israel was an extraordinary event. How events will unfold from here is anyone's guess. It's too easy to read too much into world events. I like the phrase 'vain imaginings.'
Of course they are Christian. Their respective countries are influenced by religious beliefs and values, regardless of whether its explicit or more subtle.
The strength of monotheistic religions is they are people of the book. Whether the Tanakh, New Testament or Quran there is guidance to...
Christianity is a monotheistic religion.
13 of the 20 countries listed identify Christianity as the largest religion. 5 identify Islam as the largest religion. The other 2 have significant populations of monotheist religions.
For example #1 on the list Luxembourg;
Church in Clervaux...
It is a bold assertion with little or no evidence in support IMHO.
Countries with Christianity as the largest religion feature amongst the best performing economies today.

As I understand it, a theist is one by definition who believes in the existence of God or gods. I am a theist and believe in a single Creator God so am a monotheist. Of course, just because I believe in God does not mean God exists. I could be mistaken. Why do I believe in God? Do I have proof...
Tribalism is part of human nature with a tendency towards an "us and them" mentality. Part of growing up is learning to rise about such attitudes and view ourselves as one people.
Indigenous religions with gods and God are the starting point of humanities religious experience. That's just a...
Its a very good question. I personally enjoy the opportunity to discuss and debate religion with a diverse group. In that sense I'm like everyone else here.
We all bring our unique perspective and set of experiences to the group. I try to be fair and balanced in my contributions. As a member...
In the literal sense of the unique and only begotten 'Son of God' and being raised from the dead, these are unique to Christianity when compared to the main Abrahamic Faiths. There may be relatively obscure religious sects that make similar claims. Its certainly not mainstream Islam or Judaism...
I grew up Christian and then became Baha'i. I checked out some alternatives en route - agnosticism, atheism, Hinduism and Buddhism. Monotheism works for me but if others believe in polytheism and that works for them, no worries.
The distribution of answers so far has a high number of atheists, agnostics and those who identify with non-revealed religions (whatever that means) and not so many Abrahamics. Its a brave new world!
People believe or disbelieve in God or gods for all sorts of reasons. The existence of the God of Abraham is what I grew up with. It makes sense and animates my life to some extent. If God doesn't exist at all and there is no God, then it matters little. What is important I do the best to be...
It is natural and reasonable for Christians to look to the Teachings within their faith and apply them to the modern world and all its challenges. However, there isn’t any explicit guidance about progressive taxation in the New Testament as it wasn't a concern back then.
I personally believe...
It appears a stretch to apply Jesus's comments two thousand years ago to the very different circumstances, societies and economies as exist today. Already we see no agreement from Christians here on the topic.
I don't know of any Baha'i who have joined because of this explanation. It does look like a long and convoluted explanation but then again that is the two thousand year history since Christ's ministry. So too the story of Islam since Muhammad heard the Angel Gabriel in the cave of Hira over...
It's not easy. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict evokes strong opinions and the main three Abrahamic Faiths have a lot of history in this arena. Whether it's the Hamas orchestrated attack on Israeli citizens or the Israeli invasion of Gaza, its hard to remain objective.
Yes.
I can't do much to...
Our interfaith meeting went well but it is not without its challenges. I've been part of this group for six years and was chairman one year. I was elected into the role one week prior to the Mosque shootings.

We're coming up to five...
I have had a few extended interfaith discussions on this forum over the years. Its good learn about other faiths and it helps with my role on our cities interfaith council. We had our first meeting of the year yesterday.
In regards Krishna, I know very little, so I'm going to refrain from...
A community is only as good as what it's members bring. I personally regret losing touch with a few people I haven't seen in a while.
I agree. We're both able to converse freely without any need to agree or convince the other about the truth as we see it.
I see both Krishna and Jesus as real...
