This questions arose in my mind the other night. While not a Vaishnava myself I associate with plenty of Vaishnavs and some of ther belief has washed down on me.
Now, if we go back to Vrindavan to eternally serve Radhakrishn... and everyone eventually goes back... does Radhakrishna simply...
Nah, mate. I'm saying that when we have direct neural access between our brains and computers there's no way anyone would see the same thing. There'll be a room and the interface will say to your brain 'there is a chair and a glass table. The chair has curlicues and the carpet is thick' but...
Eeeeh. I reckon plenty of people worship Krishna for madhurya bhava and not guidance, @Shantanu, my coconutty friend. Fact is I reckon most do. Most Hindus have never read ANY Gita whether it be the Bhagavat Gita (over hyped) or the Avoodut Gita (bit obtuse) or the Shiva Gita (sung by Shiva to...
I am fascinated by Linga Bhairavi. Much like Ardhanariswara She incorporates Shiva's image into Her own and shows that He is just as dear to Her as She is to him.
As they were intended; not as history but as an explanation of the lofty precepts of the Vedas in a simple way for the average working person to understand and without that social sanctions that surrounded the learning of the Vedas. This is mentioned in every single purana at the start, I believe.
While I do not doubt you are right, @Aupmanyav ji, there was a certain aura around him that belied a certain truth. And if I gave him $20 because I thought it was for a good thing than it is the thought behind the action that counts and not the action itself.
Namaste!
An interesting thing happened to me today. I had just returned to my car and was getting ready to drive to the train station when a gentleman in a turban knocked on the windows. I look up and he smiles down at me.
What follows is half an hour of talking; he tell I have a fiery tongue...
From what I've read about Trika Saivism I have to agree @Bhairava. It holds Shakti as inseparable to Shiva and even a surface reading - which is all I've done - also implies a heavy Shakti focus.
Perhaps ironically this was probably what planted the seed in my mind as a child. I grew up as a typical acultural white westerner. But it must have been a movie or a book, or a television show. It was something and it planted the seed very firmly. It sprouted in my late teens and now it...
Just because Mohammed had other wives who were not children does not mean that he was not a paedophile. There are many paedophiles in the world today who are in relationships with people who are of an acceptable age. That doesn't stop them from harming children.
They really chose the wrong form of Shiva to perform a human sacrifice to, didn't they? Nataraja is not an Ugra form and I highly doubt He would accept such sacrifices in that form. Perhaps Bhairava would have been a better choice?
As for actual human sacrifice; if everyone (including the...
No longer a placeholder!
There are several traditions that I know of, primarily of the Shaiva and Shakta vines, that advise the seeker to enjoy those things they are craving until the craving gives out; it always gives out at some point after all. Until you have exhausted these cravings you...
Even in countries where alcohol is banned alcohol is consumed. The only difference between a country where it is legal and one where it is illegal is how the drinking is done; in public versus behind closed doors.
