Very interesting indeed. An example that came to mind when he was talking is the massacre of thousands of Saxons by Charlemagne. He did this in order to force their conversion and bring them under his rule.
Would that not be the same for the Christian god then? Is the Bible not just an ancient reality by that logic? Would it not be futile to then worship this god as well?
I feel that what you are explaining is merely your interpretation. As I said: I would need to see supporting evidence. Until that point in time, I will have to interpret it as I see it.
