I have come across a similar theory. I used to visit the sessions of a spiritualist group. One evening I was listening to Sam, the founder of the group in discussion with a long term member. The member had at a seance been contacted by a "spirit" and had obviously told Sam about this at an...
My grandfather, an uneducated but highly experienced and incredibly decent man, was a large influence on my life. I am not trying to belittle him, but please be aware this info came from conversations towards the end of his life.
He spoke of socialism, he was a lifelong supporter of the Labour...
To be honest, it has been disappointing. Posts 7 and 10 pretty much sum it up for me. On the OBOD forum, I started a post about the fact that I had never met another Druid. I live in London which is the capital of a fairly crowded island. I had some expectation of somebody/group saying hi, let's...
I love the call to prayer and Quranic recitation. I find the Quran fascinating, especially since it is something to be heard. I am intrigued by its levels of complexity, its interpretations and its relationship with the Hadith's.
As a Londoner I have to say St Paul's. My favourite abbey is Iona but Westminster comes a close second. There is a beautiful old church by Dover Castle called St Mary in Castro which I really took to.
suttee, the Indian custom of a wife immolating herself either on the funeral pyre of her dead husband or in some other fashion soon after his death. Although never widely practiced, suttee was the ideal of womanly devotion held by certain Brahman and royal castes.
I don't only criticize Christianity but as others have said, it is the "default mode".
However I will say that belief in virgin birth, son of God, the miracles, original sin, dying for our sins, and the resurrection is asking an awful lot. I quite simply find it impossible to even begin to give...
I think you may be correct.
I was once in a conversation about these "stolen valour types". An old fellow who was there, told us of a time in the early 1960's. He was with a group from work who went to a pub at the end of the shift. One of their number was always talking of his wartime exploits...
I no longer have any contact with people on my spiritual wavelength, so it is the thought of community that greatly appeals to me. Spending time with kindred spirits is something hard to beat.
@Link @The Hammer I don't know the book "Animals Speak" but it sounds very interesting. I once went on an animal communication course, I was very dubious about it but a reliable friend assured me that it was good. One day we had to do an outdoors exercise in the woods. It was similar to a form...
Probably most New Agers would believe in most, perhaps all of the above. However I find this a little misleading. The New Age beliefs were not highly structured and easy to define.
In my experience, and in my travels I have met and spent time with many New Age people, their main interests...
Some kids are born blind others deaf. Some can be born disabled or with restricted growth or heart defects. The list goes on and on.
So why should the gender aspect be any different? Nature screws up in many ways, I don't think there are exceptions to this.
