I have found my sect and school in Hinduism. I have chosen Saiva Siddhanta (Conclusion of Saivism) and the school is Advaita Ishvaravada (Monisitc Theism). The Parampara I will choose is Kailash Parampara. Its the same Parampara Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami is apart of.
Granth Sarbloh, hmm, I have never heard of it. Thats odd how it is supposed to be traced back to a Sikh Guru when Sikhism doesnt believe such things. So are you closer to Traditional Sikhism then Sanatan Sikhism?
I have looked into the Philosophy of Advaita Isvaravada or Monistic Saiva Siddhanta and I believe that I will choose that for my sect and school of Hindusim. I researched some of the philosophy at the HImalayan Acadamy website and I really like it.
Actually Im thinking about Shaivism. I looked around some more and all I can find is that Smartas DONT accept converts. But, are there any Shaivism sects that believe in Non-Dualism or Monism?
True, I just think I have decided to go ahead and practice it. I read that most Hindu Temples in the US are Smarta temples and I have a friend who goes to one and says people can convert. Maybe its just the more orthodox who say no conversion, but I dont know.
I have read (dont ask where because I dont remember) that Smarta's dont accept converts. Is this true, or is it just the orthodox Smarta's? It is my favorite sect of Hinduism and the one that I like most, I would be sad to find that I wouldnt be accepted as a Smarta.
Hey I looked up a little about Sanatana-Sikhism. If you like Sanatana -Dharma and Sikhism it would go perfect with you! Its just a mixture of Sikh beliefs and Sanatana Dharma Beliefs. They still revere Guru Granth Sahib but still practice some things from Sanatan-Dharma. Looks pretty cool.
I read somewhere that Buddha wasnt aganst the Vedas or say they were wrong, but that he rejected their authority. He wanted you to be "a light unto yourself"
Well, I have broken a promise to my God before, I dont know if you can say this in your case, but my God is Love so I know he forgave me. And, when I feel bad about some sin I have done I give it to God. Last night I gave everything good and bad I did in this life to God along with their...
That is exactly how I see it. Also, the view of Liberation in Jainism was very lonely. Its just your soul in the top of the universe by itself. I like the Hindu liberation in which you are one with Brahman. That sounds great to me.
Also, how is Aztec Recon goin for ya?
I know what you mean, it can be just as austere, but I can take is slower and its more relaxed. Austerity isnt the one of the main tenets of Sanatan-Dharma as it is Jainism.
Well, to me this sounds like a case of Victimizing oneself become you identify with a group. Anything that happened to the Pagans in Egypt or other places happened HUNDREDS of years ago and have no direct effect on you.
EDIT: I just picked up Sanatan-Dharma and the Muslims and Christians did...
I agree with LuisDantas, most people think of them as mysterious, ancient people from fiction. Also, when some think of paganism, they think of some dead form of life that was lived thousands of years ago. Im not sure many know that there are people seriously practicing paganism. Many possibly...
I agree Krishnakanta, the last one sounds better and the person might be suprised instead of confused too. If one were to go up and say they were an Advaitin, or Saiva, or Vaishnava, the person would most likely be very confused. But sense people have some knowledge of Hinduism, they would...
