Worringly, I reckon the UK shows 11 out of 14 signs of fascism. (4, 5 and 8 being not obvious ticks).

How about your country?

Good question, lemme see....

Ok, I'm counting 6 over the line, with 2 more part way there, but not enough to be majority or most of the time.

It's very concerning to hear you see the UK is higher on that scale. I didn't realize the U.K. would be in trouble this way, but I don't read a large amount of in-country UK news.

Here in the U.S. we were worse in 2020 than we are now on this scale -- we've got a little improvement now under Biden. Now it's clear that in spite of the attempt by Trump to steal the election, the system held, and rebuffed the attempt, so, for now, I counted 'fraudulent elections' as not severe enough to make it over the line. They were mostly free and mostly fair. Whether the democratic vote could be blocked and suppressed some by the new laws republican state legislatures are passing isn't yet a sure thing.

Yesterday the proposed laws (bills) for this next period of parliament were announced (as read out by Her Madge). The government has an 80 seat majority and so they'll pass. What's coming will make it possible for the Prime Minister to control when a general election takes place, make it harder for people to vote, make it harder to challenge government decisions, and make it harder for anyone to protest about any of this.

I reckon 4 is on the way up, 2 navy war ships to disperse some french fishermen. Spending is on the increase and there is lots of 'we are ready for war" posturing

Here in the US, the most obvious sign, to the casual foreign tourist, is #1 -- with the the proliferation of chauvinist symbols like flags and flag bunting everywhere, and the transformation of sports events to political rallies, with flags, anthems, standing to attention, &c.
We're looking much like Germany in the '30s:

I don't think the original architect would approve of this:

I was about to say that 6 does not apply either, but then I remembered this mad idea of putting Paul "Double C*** " Dacre forward to chair Ofcom, and the attempt by Murdoch to start a right wing TV channel......
So maybe if these things do come to pass, we can tick that box too.
