We should warn the young 'uns of what to expect ...

loss of hearing, loss of libido, arthritis, dementia, eyes, eyesores, knees are gone, extra flab, digestive troubles, remembering meds, no respect from anybody, far less hair... no wonder the women don't come by to visit any more ... young'uns ... enjoy it while you can

This is why humanity perpetuates the fantasies of religion IMO .

The young ones would not feel particularly inspired to be well behaved citizens if they knew the truth ! They would all suffer from depression and nihilism.

I worked as a nurse in a psychogeriatric ward when I was 20. That did serious damage. Most of the staff were very young, there was a huge turnover rate, a large percentage of them quit after developing bad drug habits and deep despair.

This was when I realised that religion is an evolved trait which serves the species. If youngsters really 'got it' society would collapse.

Religion has been replaced by technologies of mass distraction. Except in places where they can't afford it, or where the conditioning and control techniques are the strongest.

I'm 57, so not officially old enough for this thread, but it seemed like the best place for my dark enlightenment.

:eek:I feel so old now because those apply to me, and have before my current age. Actually I think because I am already hurting so much the thought of getting older doesn't really bother me that much. At least then I'll be able to get a knee replacement and won't have so much pain in my knee anymore. As for my mind, there has already been I few times when I have been trying to find the glasses that were already on my face.

60 in August.
I thought you were younger than that.

Don't you know that is one of the two things you are never supposed to ask a woman? My mom for instance, just turned 59 this year but I only found out how old she actually is about two years ago when I saw my big birth certificate which lists her age (32) and my dad's age when I was born.
