9/11 Widows respond to Ann Coulter

Smoke

Done here.
Syndicated columnist and author Ann Coulter appeared on the Today show on Tuesday, promoting a new book. Host Matt Lauer asked her to explain certain remarks in the book aimed at activist 9/11 widows, including her charge that they were nothing but "self obsessed" and celebrity-seeking "broads" who are "enjoying" their husbands' deaths "so much."

After she defended these statements, Lauer inexplicably closed by saying, "always fun to have you here."

Elsewhere in the book, Coulter refers to the widows as "witches" and asks, "how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies"?

Reason, and reason again
This comes after Bill O'Reilly's refusal to admit he changed history when he claimed Americans killed innocent Nazis, when it was actually the opposite. So much for a guy who claims to be pro-military, eh? :areyoucra

I think this woman needs a new hobby. I remember a quote from her saying we need to Christianize the Middle East, and it was on a national television.

The most ironic thing is, both people I mentioned are against the goldless, souless liberals. People like Ann are detested by most conservatives, though, so I can still rest easy. :D

I'm not entirely convinced Ann Coulter's whole shtick isn't a big put-on, sort of like Stephen Colbert, only nastier. Unfortunately, whether she means what she says or not, there are lots of mean-spirited people out there who agree with it.

Coulter would have viciously smeared Mother Theresa if Mother Theresa had dared suggest voting for a democrat ever could be a reasonable act.

People like Ann Coulter do not deserve the nation they live in, for their actions divide it and tear it down for no more than personal gain.

There are so many wonderful people in the world, those that inspire us to help our fellow creatures, who radiate light and kindness... people that it's difficult to put an unpleasant word to.

I wish, for her own sake, Ann Coulter was one of them.

IMO, Neither Ann Coulter, nor her nastiness can be dismissed as marginal. She's no Fred Phelps who even conservatives loathe. Instead, she is an author of several best sellers and a regular and respected guest on conservative talk shows. She has a following numbering in the millions, and I believe her opinions, rudeness, and stupidity demonstrably reflect a significant segment of conservatism in this country, albeit certainly not all of conservatism.

It's funny in a sad way that she accuses the 911 widows of being drama queens, when in fact it is her that is the drama queen.

Good point, Jeff!

When I first saw her on TV, I noticed her eyes and something about her expressions reminded me of friends I have who are bi-polar and untreated for it. More than that, her vicious sense of humor, cutting remarks, and pronounced tendency for drama remind me in particular of one those friends. As far as humor, etc. goes, they could be twins.

I'm not saying that to put Coulter down, Jeff. I have nothing against people with bi-polar mood disorder, and besides, I can put her down quite well without wondering if she suffers from untreated bi-polar mood disorder. But I have been curious about whether she does or doesn't suffer from it ever since first seeing her and being struck by the resemblances between her and people I know are bi-polar and have not sought treatment for it. Have you ever heard anything about whether Coulter is bi-polar?

The closest thing I've heard is she looks like the back side of a polar bear... If I was at home, I'd post pics of the 2 side by side. :D

I never thought of that, but it would put all the pieces into place. Regarding Coulter, that is. Now we just have to explain her fan base.

I honestly think she's just a very clever satire artist and will reveal before she dies that she didn't believe a word she said and that her followers are idiots. :)

But jeeze, talk about tasteless...

I found the last 2 post, refering ann coulter to the backside of a Polar bear an immature and frivolous reference.

The person who started this comment, had previously shown excellent insight to point out that the drama queen was ann coulter. He ruined his argument by bringing the argument to childish and frankly juvenile hogwash.

Do you think that the use of childish, juvenile and immature in the 1 message is a bit tautological, if so I opologise.

Talking of childish, I refuse to refer to ann coulter, with capitalised initials.

You're so right, it was totally rude.
