A Great Deception - The Ruling Lama's Policies

It was the title of the book which caught my eye. It made me curious to know what’s all the accusations towards the Dalai Lama is about. In my mind, he's the face for promoting World Peace. Well, I got more than I can chew.

This book brought up topics which are quite foreign to me. From my understanding, Tibetan Buddhism not only have a pantheon of deities but they also rely heavily on Protectors of the faith. This book presented pages after pages of information showing that the Dalai Lama ban the Dorje Shugden practice which the Gelugpa and Sakya practitioners have hold sacred for hundreds of year. This is the cause for the great adversity towards HHDL because his actions contradict the beliefs.

I actually read through the entire book (took me awhile as there are many terms which I'm not familiar with) and found it quite intriguing. Word of advice for people who are new to Tibetan Buddhism, … do keep an open mind, and do further research on your own instead of getting caught up emotionally with human right issues. Well, I'm not too bothered with the politics but I will be checking out more about who Dorje Shugden is.

Anyone else have read this book?

Haven't read the book but thanks for the tip. This DL has been an ultimate pragmatist, and I couldn't offer him higher praise than that from a Buddhist perspective.

I was quite disappointed with this book, A Grand Deception, because i had thought it was about Dorje Shugden practice but it was more like a criticism of HH the Dalai Lama. On closer look, it did say that it was a book on the 'Ruling Lama Policies' so it did deliver what it promised, it's just that I had hoped to read more about the holy Protector Dorje Shugden.

Online there seems to be a lot of controversy over this Dharma Protector, who is none other than Manjushri, the Buddha of Wisdom. I think there is a lot of misunderstanding over this Dharma Protector and if people were to read more into the issues and examine them objectively, there would be many misunderstandings cleared.

Friend wisdombeing,
being of the PATH is important and for that meditation or travelling inwards is the key.
Those who live in duality will speak either for or against someone which never helps those of the PATH.

Zenzero - yes it's true - we should strive for non-duality. However, on our way there, we need to be able to discern what we perceive as truth so that we know which path to follow and that the path is the correct one? :)

I will definitely speak for Dorje Shugden for he is my Protector.

love

I am reading this book at the moment. I have been interested in Buddhism for 20 years and have raised money for human rights groups that support The Dalai Lama. I have also read many books about Tibetan Buddhism, The Dalai Lama and Tibetan History. With regards my Spiritual practice I have been a follower/practitioner of Dorje Shugden for 8 years. I feel, therefore, qualified to comment on this book as it directly affects me, and I believe I am reasonably well informed on the issue it presents us all with.

On one level the book is very simple in its message and clearly states its purpose (i.e. to protect the rights of Shugden practitioners across the world/restore harmony etc). The issue though has a complex backdrop of political manipulation and Public Relations exercises amidst a complex social/religious history and ooodles of released misinformation. This book makes things clearer to me and has real evidence to back up it's claims. I hope lots of people read it with an open mind and I pray that the Dalai Lama is definitely and swiftly stopped in his efforts in trying to destroy the Dorje Shugden lineages of Buddhism. He has caused so much harm already and urge anyone with a conscience to look into this issue, examine the evidence from both sides and make their own mind up, free from blind faith. I am 100% confident that if people do this they will see the the Dalai Lama is making huge mistakes and will want to urge him to end his repressive policies. In fact if you read this book and have any reason to be concerned I would suggest you email his office and let him know.

I wish you all well in your indiviual and collective desire for peace and happiness.

I have not read the book, and I doubt I will desire to read it in the future.

I myself have great reservations in practicing Shugden, but I do wish other Shugden practitioners well. In spite of the profound disagreements in regards to Dorje Shugden, I do hope that this schism is healed sooner than later.

I hold a very different opinion than others here, and truthfully, this is not the place to debate (being the DIR forum policies that they are), but I and other followers of His Holiness do not hold any animosity toward y'all.

The great deception of Ruling Lama is 100% true its every words coz i had these all information before its been published but could not express because of the pressure of Dalai Lama's supporter who claim them self as if Buddha Dharma practitioner but terrorize. Unlike other i am a Tibetan even a Buddhist monk who strive to practice the great compassion, some may thought that I am supporting author of this book but I am telling you i have no idea who had composed it but it really doesn't matter, I am always support truth. I am reading this book second time !
