O Lord, protector of cattle, sea of compassion, consort of Mahalakshmi, the daughter of the ocean of milk, slayer of Kamsa, bestower of endless mercy upon the elephant chief in his distress, Maadhava known through contemplation, younger brother of Balarama, Lord of the three worlds, lotus eyed one, protector of the gopis,protect me, for I know not anyone but you.

Who is the elephant chief being referred to?​

My guess is that it is referring to Gajendra's moksha in the Srimad Bhagavatam

e.g Gajendra Moksha : The Story of Elephant’s King

(I haven't read this page in whole, but take Chief and King to perhaps be translation related)

I think it happens before Canto X, as it is Vishnu To save you from wondering why you can't find it.

I have to get the whole set. I tried to order it from https://advaitaashrama.org/ but had problems with the site. I'll keep trying, there and other sources.

I recently switched to their other site and found it more advanced. I chose FedEx and had it delivered from India to Europe in less than a week, admittedly quick delivery doubles the price but it was worth it
