A mystical view of out of body endeavors

Isabella Lecour

amor aeternus est
If this experience is as you say it is then I would say this was definitely an OBE. Were you aware of your sleeping body?
Oh yes. I was very aware of being asleep, of my breathing and my heart rate. At the moment I droped into sleep I knew it, felt it, which was a first for me. I usually awake in the dream when doing lucid dreaming. When I had attemped to wake up, I could feel those aspects of my heart and breath quite intensely. I wasn't too aware of a dream body. It was as if I was a ballon with my physical body inside of it and I was the surface/or at the edge of the ballon. I could see and hear and move around but I was feeling resistence which I guess reminded me of a ballon being blown up / streched out. I don't think this makes much sence when I type it.
If you wish to develop this to a conscious degree then the only real solution is to take a page from Mystic Sang'ha and try meditational excercises. I don't know if I mention it in the article, but I have been a TM practitioner for over 32 years. It helps a lot to prepare one for some pretty wild experiences (almost always pleasant, I might add). Barring that you could simply try autosuggestions before falling asleep. Do this for about 2 weeks and then just drop it. Expect NOTHING to happen. Simply forget about it and let your inner reality mold a scenario that will make perfect sense to you. The neat part of this type of adventure is that no one really sees it the same way as any other although there are similarities.
Thanks for both suggestions. I find it interesting that you mention autosuggestions. That's the method I used to develop lucid dreaming. And about two weeks sounds about right too. :) I have to keep up with the suggestions to keep it active, and I haven't done so in a while. So I guess back to basics first. hehe I'm going to have to look into TM then. I've been wanting to do more with my meditation but after reading your responce it Rosjse I think I may need to learn a great deal more about meditation.
In your case, you must understand that you are perfectly safe doing something of this nature. You are only at the mercy of your fears. That might sound trite but it really is as simple as that.
Your not being trite but very honest. I don't even sleep very well unless I feel safe. I have it at a manageable level but I've never managed to erase it. Fear is something I battle everyday.
It is also helpful that you have an experience to go on already (in the club scene), the only thing is NOT to have preconceptions about how you should behave. The neato thing is, as long as you can retain your full consciousness, the dreamscape is your oyster. Once you lose the focus of understanding you are in a dream it is back to normal dreaming.
Thank you so much for your responce. I'm glad to have a direction to work towards in this endevor.

Let go
They are several highly rated books on Amazon about the subject of OBEs, many of them guides on how to achieve and remember flights into what people call the "Astral Realm". I've always wanted to try it but I've never had the chance to buy these books.
