A Open Letter To Rosie O Donnell

Charismatic Enigma
When has a 'white person' ever been enslaved to anyone? When has a white person been in slavery because of their race? Whites have almost always had power because of their race, why should anyone have to change because white people are getting offended a bit? White people weren't the one being taunted for hundreds of years because the color of their skin; white people weren't the ones being majorly murdered, lynched, beaten, etc. because the color of their skin; white people were not looked down upon because the color of their skin. This is what 'white men' have been doing to the other races for so long, because they though the color of their skin made them superior; it does not. So give the other cultures a little slack.

Oh please, thats long gone, it's about time that they started living their lives instead of making everyone feel bad for what past generations did.
And hey maybe if they stopped shooting each other and dealing drugs then they might be awarded some power, yes I know it's only a small percentage but it still reflects badly on the group as a whole.

Jack of all trades... :)
I also think that we live in a overly sensitive society where black comedians can use the chip on their shoulder (a really ageing one I might add) about slavery and persecution to belittle the white man because it's 'funny' and 'origional' and 'makes them feel empowered'. Yet if a white person speaks out in the same way he/she would be crucified because it's not 'pc'.
Pollitical correctness doesn't exist people, it's simply a contradiction in terms, I mean really what has ever been correct about pollitics seriously?

Actually....I have watched lots of white comedians make black jokes and make fun of some aspects of the black culture. They're actually pretty funny and I dont take offense to them.
But haveing said that, I feel that when your in the "public arena" and are spouting off prejudice jokes or statements then be prepared to take the heat from main stream society....whether it be good or bad.
Lastly you really need to start doing your homework......its not ageing. Take a look around, slavery has had a major impact on the society we live in, right up to this very day. Ya we have made some major steps but it is far from over. I can go on forever on this topic but I'll stop here.

Oh please, thats long gone

Racism is long gone? Perhaps in your mind, or in a small village in the southeast corner of the Alps it is; but it is a far cry from being gone in this world. Racism is huge, and just because you do not see it, does not mean it is not happening. You live in England, a small island in the Atlantic. Have you ever been to the Southern United States, or the Bible Belt, or even to other countries where they discriminate, prejudice and lay hate upon the original inhabitants?

it's about time that they started living their lives instead of making everyone feel bad for what past generations did.

Instead of making everyone feel bad (like you think they are doing), they are making people laugh and trying to build each other up. Besides, have we as 'white men' made comeuppance for the wrongs that we have done?

And hey maybe if they stopped shooting each other and dealing drugs then they might be awarded some power.

If this is not racism, God help us all. To stay this and continue with 'it is just a small part of the population' is a ridiculous sentence and is not worthy of any laud. It is a disgusting sentiment of how racism is still alive and well in this world of ours.

yes I know it's only a small percentage but it still reflects badly on the group as a whole.

So do 'know-it-all' atheists who seem to think that they have a grasp on the world better then anyone else. ;)

Well I was makeing a joke....thought it was evident with the smiley face but since you want to go there: NO, I am not liveing in the past.
Like I said and this time im not jokeing...grow up how I grew up and feel what I felt and then you can tell me.

I have been called every raceist slur in the book. Have been treated like dirt because of the colour of my skin. Have been told to go back to Africa (a really dumb statement,if you ask me). I have been exposed to more racial injustices then you care to know and I care to share.
The ironic thing is....im only half black. I am also half white. Some people only see "n----r" when they look at me.
I have also been subjected to prejudice black people who dont like me because i am half white. So it goes both ways around.

So what's "past" to you is reality to me. Like I said, until you fill my shoes....

Then you obviously are not living in the real-world. We do embrace other cultures, but racism is so very much alive. It is said that you do not see it, and it is obvioud that you are blind to the problem we still have.

Back when we enslaved each other. You know, just like the blacks did. Slavery is much, much older than racism. It was the norm until recently.
And until racism, slavery was not hereditary. People became slaves when their lands were conquered but they were often freed after a certain time or at any rate their children were considered free. Only after racism could you be born a slave. That has never happened to a white person.

on the basis,l own a computer, have internet access and lm a member of RF.also on the basis that lm not a sensitive whiner when people are politically incorrect. l would be more sensitive to a racial slur... that was not one... that was an impersonation of bugs bunny talking chinese.
Unbelievable the kinds of excuses one will make. She was not "talking Chinese" by any stretch of the imagination, whether she was imitating Bugs Bunny or anyone else.

I would much rather be called chink than listen to that mockery. I suppose that it would have been fine to you if she had put on black face when "imitating" Nigerians. After all, as long as she doesn't actually say a racial slur it's ok with you.

Wow, and you call us oversensitive.

You're right, it doesn't exist. Political correctness is a term invented in order to belittle efforts to point out injustice.

You too, huh? As a kid, I was constantly told to "Go back to China." I had thought that this is one thing at least that blacks (or those who are perceived as black) would not have to deal with. Guess I was wrong.

Thank you.

Personally, I don't know what's worse, the initial injustice or the denial that comes afterwards. "You're too sensitive. I'm sure he didn't mean it that way. Can't you take a joke? Racism is over; why are you still whining?" :cover:

Oh, wow.

Did you ever stop and think maybe the reason that many blacks look to a life of drug dealing is because their treatment by the dominant (white) culture left them in ghettos, keeping them in abject poverty, where one of their better chances of escaping it is by selling drugs?

You know what a ghetto is, darkpenguin? It's a place where a dominant group will put a group they disfavor in the hopes of destroying that group. We seen it at a large extent with the ghettos in World War II, but we also see it in the United States, where blacks, especially, are kept in a vicious cycle of poverty, where their best chance of escaping is selling drugs, gangsta rap, and athletics. Certainly not an equal situation for the average white person, who has more of an ability to develop themselves into a career he/she desires, rather than having to work towards a few that would do best to get him/her out of the terrible poverty and experience of a ghetto.

And why is that? Why is it that when white people shoot each other and deal drugs it doesn't reflect badly on the whole group, but when a black person does it, he or she represents the entire black community? If that's not racism, then give us a logical explanation for why this is fair.
