A pagan stereotype

I have to admit that I wear all black, but that has absolutely nothing to do with my beliefs. That's just what I like to wear. And it's not like I wouldn't wear another colour, I just don't.

Of course its just fashion sense. But when a fashion sence is commonly held amoungst people, it becomes part of a stereotype.

Ah man, not landover again. They're good at the goth discrimination as well. So what if some pagans look like they could double as goths? I agree with some of the others here that the attack on body form, beauty and skintone has everything to do with the fact that when they try to discriminate on grounds of religious belief they come up empty so the only other option is to lump us in with pasty computer/gaming geeks. And if you're either of those - that's cool.

I'm also rather fond of black, and wear a lot of it - not because of its slimming effect, or b/c I saw some punks down the street doing it and am looking for a fringe group to be a part of - that's just how I roll. But as with anything in our society, if you're not part of the status quo you're outside of it, and for some reason a viable target of scrutiny.

I love reading the Landover site, of course it was much more enjoyable rather than making me want to cry for mankind when I read it's spoiler ;)

As for wearing black, I love it too... but I'm missing a good 4 of my best black shirts :( so I have to wear :: shudder :: colors..

Oh my. I am indeed sorry. But now maybe stereotypists will think you a lazy hippy instead of a goth. At least then you like love and peace.

Well I found it on a troll version of wiki, so maybe its not that accurate. But I did google it and it turns out that another stereotype is "dressed in all black, with a lot of body piercing and plenty of tatoo's"Do you guys hve any of that?
http://www.blue-moon-coven.net/artikel/newson/paganstereo.htmThe reason I am saying this, is that I do run into a lot of "weird" Pagans.
I have actual met two real life Pagans (OMG Anti! Regale us with this amazing story!) who were both actually like that.

I rarely wear anything black, I don't have piercings, nor tattoos. Interesting. I guess I am not really a Pagan.

Of course you are. It is just us all-black wearing, devil worshipping Pagans who ruin Paganism for Pagans like you

Seriously, I don't know why anyone would stereotype a Pagan. We are some of the nicest people in the world :D

Oh wait... Maybe that's a stereotype...

Actually from my observations it seems like most Pagans are friendly folk. Except those damned neo-nazi ones. They bother me. They give Germanic Paganism a bad image.

Indeed they do. Any time a Pagan in Germany expresses his/her beliefs, they are labelled as a neo-nazi. It's really sad. There is a music festival called Ragnarok Festival, and a few Pagan Bands had to be dropped because they were "questionable" in terms of Nazism.

Ulll. Well Germany has every right to be that way though. I am waiting for the rest of the WWII generation to die off. It will be a little easier for Germany and Germans to throw all that nonsense off after that. I have noticed that the generation before us and our generation are pretty good about those sorts of things. We weren't born into such a strong era of nationalism as two generations ago.

True. Germany is very strict with those laws. Minimum of 3 years if you do the salute or say Sieg Heil. Pagans there have to be very discreet because of the whole Nazi thing. Which is kind of odd anyway, because while there is a lot of mystery and occult rumours surrounding the Nazi Party, Hitler officially endorsed Christianity as the religion of the party.

Druidism is getting pretty big in Southern Germany, Austria, and Switzerland because the Celts were in that area. Hitler was a fan of the old Germanic myths. He thought they portrayed the "Perfect German/Human". He was just a bag o' farts.

Haha yeah. I have wanted to look into Druidry. I have a few sites, but there isn't a lo of information. Obviously because they kept no records

Ár nDraíocht Féin: A Druid Fellowship They are the largest Neo-Druid organization in the US. Also this is a little random, but I really like your avatar. I saw a pendant at a Celtic Curiosity shop I like to visit 25 minutes from where I live. It was very similar. It was a little more Celtic looking though. I like when the two styles are fused.

As do I. It is actually a picture I found, and it also happens to be a picture of the pendant that I wear.
