When our children were born - once we had got past the stage of heaving a sigh of relief at the fact that they were both fit and well...
There were disturbed nights, there were times when I (in particular) found the constant crying very 'draining'..after having checked that baby was fed, watered, had a dry nappy, was not too warm, nor too cold..etc, etc...
As our children grew, we realised that as soon as we were free from one worrisome 'period', that one was soon replaced by another.. and so it goes...
For some reason, when james went to Uni to read languages, I never really worried about the possibility that he might fail...
Of course, he didn't. He even told us that he had not 'streched' himself - that he had been aiming for a 2/1 rather than a first because those who obtain firsts could be seen by propspective employers as maybe being overly-scholarly, and therefore lacking in the abilities to socialize - that ctually makes some kind of sense to me.
When he was accepted by Deloitte, as a trainee accountant (with three years in which to become a qualified accountant), I was a bit worried.............
James had never been a mathematician, nor had he ever shown any particular traits of character that would seem to fit that of an accountant.
He has been working now for four months, during which time he has been learning (and working for the company - say 50% of each), but we were aware that the "December exams" were the ones that really mattered; fail those, and the prospect of the career was over with.
Imagine our consternation when he came here for the holiday week, having passed one (but failed one) of the two exams. Thrown in at the deep end, one on Corporate law, the other on contractual law. To be fair, of the intake of 8, 5 had failed one of the exams, and one had failed both.
However, his friends had all had the time to re-sit their failed exam, whilst James had to wait until today... (and I knew he was a little concerned).
No need to worry, we just had a text from him to say that he has passed!!!:jiggy: :trampo:
The trouble is.........he then said "But now I have the next lot of exams to work for..."
I can't spend all three years holding my breath!!!!!:cover:
