i find atheism to be an extremeley pitiful and sad state to be in, but that never gives me the right to trash it, like you are doing to mine now. I have had to defend my religion many times (especially on RF), and i am sick of the ignorance. my religion has nothing to do with some ******* lightsabers or some stupid people wearing some stupid ******* robes. Its about morality, and the Force. It would take too long to explain to you, and i will not waste my time.
I think you ought to explain - I remember I upset you (Sometime back) and I now understand; I am truly sorry if the silly talk about light sabres upset you - I think we are all so drained from another thread that we needed a bit of light relief (oh no, that wasn't intended).

Please don't be upset - I am sure no one here actually means any harm.;)

Sorry if you feel that way but when your religion's name is that of a fictional movie, expect it. I tried my best to ask with sincerity, too bad it didn't work out that well.

You should explain it first, to the dictionaries and encyclopedias. It seems that these "ignorant" sources also does not know about your religion - Jediism

"No entry found for jediism.

Did you mean Judaism?"

If you want to explain but not to me because i'm too ignorant, the following might be some good places for you to start. They might want to know about your unique religion so they can add it in.
  • Encyclopedia Britannica
  • National Geographics
  • Dictionary.com
  • Encyclopedia.com
Just to name a few ...

So, lets say that I make up my own religion right now, call it neo-logism. I will "believe in it" with all my hearts and call it a religion. Obviously I just made it up right here and now and is fake. Yet if all religions are equal, and mine is a religion because I believe it so, would that not make all religions fake?
if deep down in you rheart you believe in it, then it is just a valid as christianity, paganism jewdaism, jediism, sikhism, islam, buddhism, and all other religions

you are quite right, i do believe every religion equal, to say otherwise would be ignorant and big headed - but you would also get slated and find it very hard to defend in a debate

can i ask, what other religion do you think holds the same ideas and theology as jediism? you expect thejedi to follow another similar religion - which one? ;)

why not stick to those other similar religions that are already established and whose names people know more instead of making a new one out of a science fiction movie which can cause unneccessary confusion like it had me?
Star Wars is set in a fictional world, so why not create a new power source? Also, Lucas had no idea that some people would make a religion based on the names he used.

I strongly urge everyone, that before you make a statement about any religion, or anything, read up about it first. When I was Christian, I had the wrong idea about many different religions, including Wicca and other forms of earth-based Paganism. Then when I became a Pagan, I had many false ideas about a few religions, mainly Satanism and Jediism. I used to think Satanism was the whole blood-sacrifices, demonic rituals, and all that other bs. I though Jediism was a bunch of nerds running around pretending to be Jedis. I have researched those two religions, and have found out I was wrong. I know have much respect for Satanist and Jedis.

I would'nt know what other similarities his unique religion shares with others. He would not share them.

I googled and yahoo'ed the jedi religion and later on when I found out from you it was called Jediism, I also checked. I found, amongst many, unreliable sources. That's why I wanted to see what mr. jedi believed in because I don't like to generalize religion as people interpret even their own religious teachings differently.

in all due respect, any muppit can create an internet site on anything

i dont trust internet web pages unless they speak common sense that i agree with

a better opening post could have been "im intruiged as to what the jedi religion actually is?" and then followed on from there, people might have responded better

im sory if my previous post's made me sound like i thought you ignorant, i think you are very open to learning about this religion, but maybe got off on the wrong foot

i dont know loads about jediism, but im happy to do a bit of research and discuss findings

Jediism bears remarkable relationship to Druidry. The Jedi have their "Force", the Druids have their "Source". Both Druids and Jedi believe ina balnce that must be maintained, lest disaster occur. For instance, the balance of nutrition. Don't eat too much of one thing, or you cannot get enough of another, and so, you mecome malnutritioned. Or the balance of nature, whic his normally self-maintained, barring natural calamity or human interference.

Jedi and Druids also believe that man is a part of nature.

Jediism was several philosophies put into one. One could call them any name, but Jedi is what they call themselves. A lot of people give me strange looks when I say I'm a Druid, because of the way they are portrayed in media today. Books, movies, video games, and RPGs all misrepresent them. A lot of people think I base my beliefs on these movies. They are wrong. I base my beliefs and the vast and rich religious tradition of the Celts. Some, like you, think that the Jedi base their beliefs on the movies. You are wrong. The beliefs were already there. It just took a movie to show it to the masses; after which, having no other name, they chose Jedi.

Howie from Big Brother has a red Jedi light saber, unfortunately the force wasn't with him last night as he was voted off.:)

The way I look at it, as a Jedi, your religion is founded in mythology, just like almost every other religion. But as a Jedi, you know precisely when and where that mythology comes from, unlike many other religions.
