I notice the UK remains green even with the Earth 4 degrees warmer; brilliant, even when everywhere else enjoys glorious sunshine it is still p*ssing down in Britain...
Aye, the White Walkers are a formidable threat. The Canadians and Northern Europeans need to build a wall twice as high as they need.
One of the more dire possibilities I have heard of is this. If enough meltwater from northern Canada and Greenland flows into the Atlantic, the Gulf Stream is disrupted and Britain has a climate more like Iceland's or Newfoundland than Cascadia.I notice the UK remains green even with the Earth 4 degrees warmer; brilliant, even when everywhere else enjoys glorious sunshine it is still p*ssing down in Britain...
I worked in Manchester for two years, I remember the general rule was this; if you looked up and saw clouds it meant it was about to rain. It you looked up and couldn't see clouds it meant it was already raining...Ha, ha, i used to live near Preston where we had a saying "its lazy rain" meaning it doesn't bounce off or go round but it goes right through you.
Sure keeps the gardens well watered though.
Yes, I'm aware of that scenario; rather than getting rained on I might just freeze to death? Thanks for cheering me up!One of the more dire possibilities I have heard of is this. Seriously, I love our green little island, when I come back from holidays abroad it always strikes me just how intensely green everything is. Very pretty, and a little rain never hurt anyone (please no arguments from Young Earthers about the flood!), I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
It is in a "transitional" state at the moment, but it's not the first time lets face it. I think the positives still outweigh the negatives, we remain one of the most progressive countries in the world when it comes to democracy, freedom of speech and social inclusiveness.I love the country, i hate what it is becoming, so i got out.

Don't let a few noisy upstarts put you off, come back to us and get rained on Christine!
I don't want to turn a joke thread into a serious debate, and I respect your decision to move somewhere else. Why not? It's your call, and if you are happy in France and feel you have a better future there why wouldn't you move? One of the things that decided me was the screwed up system they call democracy.
I was proven correct when 37% can change the course of four countries.
Freedom of speech is being eroded, as are many other human rights
I'm in France now, much more representative system of democracy and no plans to ditch the human rights act. Incidentally, also a health service.

For me, it has to be Blighty, I know I'd only miss it otherwise, warts and all. I've lived through the Thatcher years, the Major years, the Cameron years, and now the May years it seems. I'm still here, happily opposing them all!
