A Rant About Fast Food Commercials.

Ads are annoying, but ads for fast food are particularly obnoxious these days. I don't want to see a close up of someone's mug as they shove food down their gob. I don't want to hear a person moan with orgasmic pleasure as they bite into a chicken burger. Hungry Jacks ads are by far the worst, but KFC ads can be obnoxious as well.

By all means, tell me about your new burger if you must. But stop assaulting my sight with disgusting closeups of the eating process. It's repulsive.

That is all.

All advertising is a grotesque assault on our freedom and intelligence in the name of corporate greed. I won't use any media anymore that pushes advertising at me. And interestingly, the longer I am able to avoid them, the more grotesque and annoying they become.

There is nothing need or want to see bad enough for me to put up with the insult of corporate advertising.

I don't object to advertising in toto. Fifteen to thirty seconds of advertising before the content I wish to view isn't an unreasonable ask especially when I'm getting said content for free. YouTube has to make money somehow and I respect that. I do complain if ads become intrusive, frequent or obnoxious in their content.

Nobody I know eats like that. Especially fast food which if Ads were truthful, they would potray people who have just eaten sewage.

Hear hear.

In fact, ads like this tell you all you need to know about the product: it's for people in the grip of basic, uncontrollable animal greed, as opposed to a civilised enjoyment of good food in moderation. No wonder we're all getting so fat these days.

The idea of YT becoming one's job needs to be shut down. It never started out that way and now it's full of clickbait garbage.

I'm a millennial. I barely know how to operate a television. It's mostly YouTube.
With YouPube I have the sound off by default and only turn it up once the ad is over. That makes the ads a lot less attention-grabbing, I find.

Old YouTube was so much better. I miss response videos.

That's not a bad idea. I might start implementing the same policy myself.

Unfortunately the whole point of advertising is to be too frequent, too intrusive, and intellectually obnoxious because they know we will ignore it, otherwise.

Also, when content providers get their money from you, they want to serve you. When they get their money from the corporate advertising, they want to serve their corporate advertisers. Serving you is only necessary to the degree that it serves them. And that's often a big hidden cost. News shows, for example, that don't report oil spills because BP is paying them millions of dollars in "we're your corporate buddy" advertizing money.
