A simple path to salvation

What if all religions are wrong. What if the path to salvation is simply this. If you are greedy, then maybe you have to try to be generous in order to find salvation. If you are selfish, then you have to try to be selfless in order to find salvation. If you are being too selfless, in a bad way, then maybe your path to salvation is by being selfish.

God is perfect, whole, and complete. God does not have any desires or needs. Maybe our path to salvation is by finding ways of smoothing out our desires and needs so we can be closer to the way God is being.

And by doing so, then maybe we will become open to to be able to receive all of God's generous blessings flowing all around us. Maybe when we are occupied with our own imperfections we are no longer able to appreciate what is meaningful and sacred in our lives.

Salvation from what? It seems to me most religious and spiritual paths are simply against being human, which is just silly.

I think that's the basic "royal road" to rising above one's evolutionary legacy of lower motivations to become truly human. Of course the path is not straight forward nor without challenges. But it's worth the effort.

Good one, hadn't thought of that. The whole idea that this life thing is about mastering individual shortcomings, wherever they are. Some people believe though, that life is best lived if you only work to further what you are good at, and not give what you are bad at so much attention. They make a good argument too.

Metanoia vs repentance.

This isn't a....too uncommon route. It certainly seems to be the foundation of a large number of religions. And monistic conceptions of the God are exceedingly common, from Augustine to Shankara, from Hegel to Tillich. I think its one of those pre-philosophical beliefs that found our approaches to life, and is evolutionary ingrained in us.

Forgive me, but this sounds like Judaism, or at least Judaism for Gentiles. You have God, and you have ethics. The thing is, someone has to teach you the ethics. People are stupid, they don't seem to know how to apply "Love your neighbor as yourself."

Salvation from what??? If someone is miserable, then he wants to find a cure for his misery. If he is not in pain, from what does he need salvation???
