Based on past experiences I think this is a long shot and won't go beyond the drawing board, but given how extreme the current situation is offline, I'm willing to gauge interest.

Obviously any such "party", if it were allowed to exist, would operate within RF rules. (For the sake of argument, assume that no member of staff could be a member to avoid any conflict of interest).

I honestly don't know what reactions to expect, so feel free to comment and share your thoughts. Any ideas on what you'd hope or expect from such a group are very welcome.

I'm not interested in anything centrist. I wan to be as far to the left as possible. Thanks.

I really hope so. We can't let have the capitalists have all the fun. :D

Not sure honestly. It depends on what people are actually willing to do and how it would change their behaviour on the forum (if it would change it at all).
We need a party atmosphere....something more festive than this
constant bickering over whose genitals are larger...or in the case
of female posters, whose are smaller.

Did i just say that? Banfairy risk there.

Well, we can go with Wikipedia's definition as a starting point:

Socialism is a political, social and economic philosophy encompassing a range of economic and social systems characterised by social ownership of the means of production and workers' self-management of enterprises. It includes the political theories and movements associated with such systems. Social ownership can be public, collective, cooperative or of equity. While no single definition encapsulates many types of socialism, social ownership is the one common element.

i am just kidding
in spirit and principle it is a highly productive idea which has never been fully explored by humanity
high time, particularly given the current state of affairs woto_O
Ezra Pound was a really brilliant fellow, despite what has been said.

If this party were run democratically, it would mean members draw up the platform themselves. So you'd still get a vote and be able to give some input if you chose to be a member.

Why?

For what purpose?

The whole concept of a forum is that every individual regardless of political, religious, etc. disposition can put forth an argument and the entire forum can engage.

How extreme do you actually believe things are offline? What sources are you relying on to show such extremism?

I believe in democracy. If a bill doesn't make everyone unhappy then it's not a good bill!

It's really funny how Republicans criticize Democrats as if Democrats are Republicans. I never really understood what it meant to be Democrat until I was on a Code Pink bus in 2004 on my way to Washington DC to protest the Iraq war. Contrary to Republicans delusions about Democrats having leaders, I can assure you there are no followers in the Democratic party. Everyone is in charge where result being no one is charge because no one is listening to anyone else as if someone is in charge. I am just amazed the protest actually happened! This is what makes the Democratic party so great. No one is really in charge because no one is willing to be a follower! I prefer the chaos of the Democratic party. People who worship authority for the sake authoritarianism are not fun to be around. They are too predictable. During the protest march my favorite part was the 30 or so topless women cheering us on from the side of the road all carrying signs saying, "Breasts for Peace". The only thing better than the breasts for peace was a super hot twenty year old girl with the coolest outfit on top of this giant rock with a megaphone screaming at the crowd of marchers, "What does democracy look like?" And the crowd would roar back in unison, "This is what democracy looks like!" Democrats are the best. Republicans are poop.
