A Stunning Challenge to Atheists from Answers in Genesis

Kilgore Trout

Misanthropic Humanist
In any case, one can only stand in awe at these silly straw-men. But maybe I've missed something here, so anyone who feels these are reasonable challenges please step forward and 'splain.

Reasonable challenges can only come from those with the capacity for reason. At best, these ridiculous questions are the garbled misunderstandings of a handicapped intellect. At worst, they are thinly-veiled promises of vitriol and hate.

Hey! A new tee-shirt quote. :)

REASONable Challenges
Can only come from those
with the capacity for REASON!

Regarding the OP...

Oh boy. Sometimes I wonder if they will accuse us of paying some of them to behave as Poes / straw men.

It is just so embarassing. Theists may think we choose such "adversaries" out of fear for facing someone with real arguments or meaningful points.

Well after all, it does come from Answers in Genesis.

That is not actually true. And I might add only in the eyes of followers of the religions of Abraham.

The Hebrew set aside one day for rest and contemplation - not the rest of the world.

Most of Europe worked seven days a week until much more recent times.

We don't really get days off until they realise they are killing people in the factories and workhouses and unions come into play.

In a sense. Originally Saturday was the seventh day, a day of rest, with Sunday operating as the beginning of the week. Then Jesus came along and the Christians decided to demote Saturday and promote Sunday as the official day of rest---after all, one certainly couldn't appropriate a pagan religious day. And why waste a perfectly good rest-day like Saturday on work? (Christians were a lazy lot) So these Christians decided that Saturday would be a day of household chores and lazying about. Which is why Saturday is the official day of car washing, lawn mowing, and backyard BBQing, with Sunday being the day rest and recreation; pew sleeping and NFL football.

So if it wasn't for the god of Abraham the Jews wouldn't have made Saturday the day of rest, and the Christians wouldn't have made Sunday the super-day of rest. So we can all thank god for weekends.

"Are you tired of all the evil associated with the philosophy of atheism—Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, and so on?

I have grown tired of hearing that the reason they ordered the extermination of people was just cause they lacked a belief in God, when people with belief in God or gods equally kill for their ideals.

● Do you feel conflicted about the fact that atheism has no basis in morality (i.e., no absolute right and wrong; no good, no bad?)

Atheist only describes one thing, and that is a lack of belief in gods, nothing more, whatever ideologies an Atheist has is independent of their lack of belief, of course, whatever they do will obviously not be in the name of god, nor in the name of I don't believe in god/atheist

● Are you tired of the fact that atheism (which is based in materialism, a popular worldview today) has no basis for logic and reasoning?

We all posses the ability to understand logic and reason, but to believe in a god or gods you have to suspend all logic and reason on that one issue. In anything else unrelated to the supernatural we all pretty much agree.

● Do you feel like you need a weekend to recoup, even though a weekend is really meaningless in an atheistic worldview—since animals, like bees, don’t take a day of rest or have a weekend? So why should atheists?

Cause it's nice to have a day off from work or school? Better than to sit for hours listening to some dude blabbering about some story written down on a scientifically illiterate book.

● Do you feel conflicted about proselytizing the faith of atheism, since if atheism were true then who cares about proselytizing?

I don't do that, nor I know any other Atheist that does that, it's impossible to convince a believer that what they believe might be bull, but look at it this way, if there are people among believers who can't swallow the god pill no matter how hard they try, a friendly neighborhood Atheist might help them find the answers, rather than another religious person who will truly preach things they have no way to demonstrate are true in any other way than to tell you that you need faith.

● Are you weary of looking for evidence that contradicts the Bible’s account of creation and finding none?

The bible does a nice job on contradicting itself and reality, so it requires almost no effort to disprove it. Even still, countless times debunked, people continue to believe in it, so I'd say it's a waste of time to even try IMO

It's funny how easy it is to answer stupid questions, but I just had to.

Ummm! Why did you post this in reply to me? I'm not a Christian and I've already stated along with others that these questions are straw-men.

ATHEISTS . . .

We're listening

● "Are you tired of all the evil associated with the philosophy of atheism—Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, and so on?

What's evil? Plus I'm good friends with Stalin, Hitler and Pol pot. We meet up every Friday night and play poker. Are you telling me that poker is wrong?

● Do you feel conflicted about the fact that atheism has no basis in morality (i.e., no absolute right and wrong; no good, no bad?)

The only conflict I have right now is whether mint ice cream is better than vanilla ice cream

● Are you tired of the fact that atheism (which is based in materialism, a popular worldview today) has no basis for logic and reasoning?

I personally prefer doing whatever pops into my head. I don't care about this logic and reasoning that you speak of

● Do you feel like you need a weekend to recoup, even though a weekend is really meaningless in an atheistic worldview—since animals, like bees, don’t take a day of rest or have a weekend? So why should atheists?

I only rest when I need to. The rest of the time I'm busy doing atheist stuff like eating babies.

● Do you feel conflicted about proselytizing the faith of atheism, since if atheism were true then who cares about proselytizing?

But I've got to tell someone about atheism. If not then how will I get new members to join my atheist only cheese and wine tasting evenings?

● Are you weary of looking for evidence that contradicts the Bible’s account of creation and finding none?

Personally I prefer making up creation stories between the hours of 9:00am and 10:00am. It's one of those atheist things that I do when I'm not resting

For professing atheists, these questions can be overwhelming to make sense of within their worldview. And further, within an atheistic worldview, atheists must view themselves as God.

We don't view ourself as God, rather we view ourselves as one of many of gods. Personally I'm the god of L'oreal, because you're worth it

You're right, you're definitely not an atheist. And considering that I know people have explained these issues to you, I'm concerned that you might some serious A.D.D. Unless you're intentionally being dishonest, but I know that couldn't be the case because you claim to be christian.
