I believe that is pretty good religious philosophy but he makes it sound like reincarnation is automatic. It is not. Reincarnation occurs when God decides it is appropriate.
Reincarnation occurs when there are psychological impressions within the unconscious mind with respect to past desires like emotional cravings for pleasure and aversions for pain.
When the psychological impressions are wiped out clean by spiritual exercises, all cravings and aversions cease, reincarnation ends, and the soul is established in the natural state of pure consciousness.
Addictions are but very strong impressions in the unconscious mind.
Spiritual exercises of total love, compassion, selflessness, present moment awareness, virtuous conduct are potent in wiping out these psychological impressions named vasanas in Hinduism and Sankharas in Buddhism.

All vices like lust, greed, hatred, gluttony, cruelty are all expressions of intense desires in the form of cravings and aversions, which then manifest as flaws in conduct or crimes in their extreme form. These vices are nothing but intense desires and are condemned in all religions.
