Both. God pervades and sustains everything. Nothing exists independently from God. Yet, God is completely independent of all created phenomena. And while creation participates in and reflects the divine nature, it itself is not divine.

Can God exist independent of anything else?

For the purpose of this poll:

Transcendent: Existing beyond the universe or material existence; separate

Immanent: Existing within the limits of experience and knowledge; pervading the universe or material existence

Spooks are the things that go bump in the night. God is a spirit, too. Psychics predict future events and can see things that others cannot. Like spooks, psychics are also things that go bump in the night. Some have the ability to project their bodies, while others can project just their images.

If psychics are real, why not believe in God?

Dr. Jessica Utts researched psychic abilities and, using statistics (for which she has a doctorate), she concluded that psychics, at least to some degree, are real.

Spirits transcend time, space, matter, and energy.

Bible says it like this:

that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 'For in him we live, and move, and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also his offspring.' Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold, or silver, or stone, engraved by art and design of man.
Acts 17:27-29

Don't you know that you are a temple of God, and that God's Spirit lives in you?
1 Corinthians 3:16

…God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.
1 John 4:16

I don’t think Transcendent nor Immanent describes it well.

Good afternoon SalixIncendium. I believe Yahweh is transcendent from 1 Kings 8:27 "But will Elohim in very deed dwell on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded!" but Yahweh also dwells in the hearts and minds of people who have subjected themselves to him. "The Elohim that made the world and all the things in it, he, being Sovereign of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; 25 neither is he served by men's hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives life and breath to all things;" [Acts 17].

My faith is that there is nothing like God.

I dont think a human being is capable of comprehending what this means because if we can conceptualise something, that's seeing it, and God is beyond it.

Also one must consider two things as a theist. Is there something beyond the universe? Then God could be transcendent, and exists in a realm beyond the universe, and even if there are multiverses etc etc, still God is transcendent.

If there is nothing beyond the universe or all the universes which is in combination "the universe", then God must be immanent. There is no other choice. If so, then it is.

Thus this would depend on one persons philosophy. Thats why I dont believe its that simple. Trying to reconcile both and say "God is both" is an attempt at reconciliation. Thus Spinoza's Panentheism.

Thinking from my limited realm of reason, I am more inclined towards the Panentheistic God concept.

But yet, I dont believe my reasoning can identify God with this type of thought.

Cheers.
