Well, we all have these deficiencies including me. There are limits to reason, logic and evidence and some of them show up here:
Science has limits: A few things that science does not do
The same limits are also so for philosophy, religion, morality, politics and what not.
There is no objective methodology possible for all of the everyday world.

Curing a fundy is more or less impossible
though.

It's very much worth the effort when those like me are cured. Personally, I feel a kind of sadness when I see such remarks, because it does remind me that so many are giving up even though there are so many in desperate need of a life line. And they definitely need support, because once they are cured they will soon discover many "friends" weren't really friends (it was the first time I faced any sort of bigotry over religious differences). Even if it's never a bountiful harvest, even saving a few is very worth it.
