What type of Afterlife do you believe and Why?

Me, I believe in Reincarnation. We live our live to the best of our powers (some of us), we die. After death we either go straight into a new life or take a time off and stay in limbo for a while to rest

I would say that I agree with the concept of 'returning to God' or 'returning to the Tao', in the sense I believe both are the same as 'returning to the universe'. But I believe we do not return, for we are already are one with it, and are part of a cycle ourselves.

I suppose death is the death of the mind, and so the self moves on without a mind causing illusion. These 'individuals' become disillusioned at death, we have self without mind again, and thus we live as the One Self that is the universe unseparate.

I think this life is the afterlife.

Im privy towards the notion of rebirth but more accurately, I think everything is actually a continuum whereas nothing in actuality really dies or lives thus effectively eliminating notions of reincarnation and rebirth in that everything is interconnected and interrelated.

I voted for two; Reincarnation AND Heaven & Hell....After death we spend a time on the Astral plane with people we knew in this life and to digest our lessons and then we merge back into our soul and later, if needed, the soul will spawn a new incarnation for experiences it needs.

For me, after we die, our biological cycle just stop. We start to decompose and become part of the earth.

None of those as such. Nowhere man more or less holds the same opinion that I do on this matter.

I think that religion and its belief of an after life is just an excuse, those who are afraid of death long for an after life, and that's all it is.

What type of Afterlife do you believe and Why?

Peace be on all.
According to Ahmadiyya Muslim understand of Islam from Holy Quran and Holy Prophet (pbuh) [and explanation by his (pbuh) ardent devotee Promised Reformer, Messiah Mahdi (a.s.) and then his Khalifas (alislam.org)]:

1-Human is born from process of creation and guided evolution by God.

2-Purpose is to recognize and worship God in such way that rights of God and rights of creation are paid.

3- Instruction manuals evolved / given in each era in terms of Divine Books, demonstrators of teachings were sent as Messengers.

4- Human is given choice to accept the truth or deny. Merits and demerits are explained. If accepts it is for his her own good.

5- Physical life ends one day, soul is saved till Day of Judgement. On that day, all accountability will be made. (Pious and un-pious will feel at various degrees, what is going to happen) Good will be entered into Paradise [which contain stations of nearness, love and pleasure of God and other eases which are not seen before, only metaphoric examples are known to us, like rivers of milk and honey etc.........Those who rebelled against God's directives in physical world, will be given Hell. Quran used words 'ummohu haviya' i.e. Hell will be mother of the the person of Hell..... It means as human come out of womb after completion, Hellish person will be out after treatment. Thus Hell is a Hospital like place. After "proper" treatment and completion they will be out of it.

6-The way one lives life in this world, he or she is going to get accordingly in the life to come. Spiritually blind will rise spiritually blind in the Hereafter. Pious will be delighted in Hereafter too.

7-Every revealed religion mentioned Hereafter with focus BUT latter cutting and adding by people made it less importance.

8-Islam does not believe in reincarnation -- and not in someone taking sins of others --- or not in original sin; Prophet Adam forgot some directives to follow with no intention of disobey, he prayed and was forgiven --- no one was thrown out of Paradise as it is exclusive property of Paradise that once in, never out of it; (weak translations and misunderstanding of religious parables distorted truths).

9-Grace of God, right faith and good works with good intention and avoid evil leads one to Paradise; the Master is God, Allah the Exalted.

6-WHY
i-Because God informed so, and all His directive were see true thus wisdom says it is true too, dreams and revelations shows it too

ii-Every program ends thus program of life has to see end......

iii- Accountability is norm, it has to be true to life too.

iv-Balance and Justice is truth, full rewards and full chastisements cannot be given in this world, ought to be more comprehensive place.

I said both none and reincarnation, by which I don't mean the usual definition. As a Material Monist I believe the particles and energies in our bodies will be endlessly recycled into other complex organisms. Maybe, and this is a big I don't know- sometimes the particles or energies cause a person to be born a lot like a previous person, but it isn't them. I don't believe in a soul/atman at this time.

The one idea I give any sort of merit to is eternal return, based on the big bang expanding the universe until it gets too large and collapses on itself, in which matter is condensed, super heated, "bangs" outwards again, and the process begins again.

Well, despite being Hindu, I'm very agnostic on the notion of reincarnation; although I do believe that it exists in one form or another.

I think a "state of being" kind of afterlife is also possible. But, once again, I remain agnostic.
