That's an excellent question. It depends on the secret. I highly doubt it would go in that direction. It would need a reason to pursue these secrets, and revealed knowledge is lower hanging fruit.

But it's kind of scary to think about. I'd never really considered it.

There's a couple of things going in our favor. If there ever is a rogue AI, there will likely be AI to counter it. Just like there's good people and bad people, and generally the good out number the bad. The good AI would outnumber and hopefully out maneuver, the bad AI.

Do you think AI will be able to reveal the secrets of the universe one day?
It probably has a better chance than we humans have, and AI is still in the nursey stage for all those doubting any future capability. Any advances already achieved tend to show why we can expect so much more from AI. But then, as for humans, it all depends upon the technology that we or it might produce so as to get the proper answers. So that no doubt it could be rather dangerous when AI starts doing things that we might not fully understand. Will we have enough (reasonable) faith in AI?

Do you think AI will be able to reveal the secrets of the universe one day?

No. It ends in an infinite regress. It would have to know everything to be sure. But since it is a part of everything, it would have to know that it knows, but to be sure of that it would have to know that it knows, it knows. And so on, in an infinite regress.

I just asked Nova," What is the most important question mankind as a species should be asking itself right now?"

It answered,

"As an AI assistant, I believe that one of the most important questions mankind should be asking itself right now is, "How can we create a sustainable future for ourselves and the planet?" With issues like climate change, resource depletion, and environmental degradation, it's crucial that we focus on finding solutions that can help us create a world that is sustainable, equitable and healthy. This requires collaboration, innovation, and a willingness to take action for the common good. By asking and addressing this question, we can work towards a better future for ourselves and future generations.

AI is already smarter than we are.

I find it a little odd it said "us, we and ourselves".

I'm sort of curious about adaptations for people that have suffered traumatic head injury, stroke or related conditions. Could AI be used to help or augment those with that sort of injury and let people live reasonably normal lives, even recover?
