People should be allowed to read what they want.....And an author should be allowed to publish whatever he or she wishes to publish. Freedom of the press cannot take a back seat to fear. If you don't want to buy the book or read it, than it is your choice not to do so. If someone wishes to buy the book and read it, why should we be able to stop them?

People who buy it with intent to do harm deserve to feel the wrath of the M16. People are entitled to read what they want for whatever purpose, those who choose to misuse the information presented before them have made a choice to be the enemy of the world.

the book is actually illegal in this country!
its not about Al qaeda as such but it does contain detailed instructions on bomb making , fuse making, the best way to blow up buildings, there are sections on assassinations and how to kill people, the most effective way to use an explosive in a crowd etc ,

The banning of books makes me uneasy but the moral implications of selling this book for a profit also makes me uneasy.

I have not seen this book, but is it like 'shock value media' trying to portray the message of al-qaeda? I mean there are best-sellers with detailed killing's and assasinations.
What about books such as "the anarchists cook book" which taught me and my friends how to make a fertiliser bomb that destroyed a broken-down car in his backyard?

I don't think it is possible to sell such things, but i agree that it makes me feel uneasy that large scale companies sell these things. It doesn't mean it should be illegal though. Tough moral dilemma.

It's the undying question of "is it okay for the government to reduce of freedoms (freedoms ensured by the constitution no less) in the name of "protecting the people"?"
What really bothers me about this is all they are doing is protecting us from ourselves. Is that freedom?

Which are you more uneasy of? Or are you indifferent to the fact that your government controls what information is 'right' for you?

How is profit from this book different than profitting from cigarettes - which kills its user and others in second hand smoking, alcohol - which kills its users over time and possibly others with drunk driving, guns - which potentially kills, and so much more?

Really needs to be a freedom of information amendment. I would be excited and weary for/of a government that declassified all of its documents.
