Personally, I think your original view is quite common ... assuming EVERYONE is of the opinion their religion is the only way for all mankind, perhaps not knowing the experiences of others.

I'd like to be able to help change that perception, because there are people who won't engage me once they find out I'm 'religious' as if it's some forbidden activity to be shunned. (They're afraid I'll start preaching at them.) Therefore, I (and others) miss out on dialogues or exchanges even for no real valid reason.
