I love Ambien's response: Racism is not a side effect of using Ambien.....God, I'm loving the meltdown..

Luckily I can blame alcohol to the police after "manslaughtering" pedestrians on the street.

Signs you should re-evaluate what you're about to post. "Not giving excuses for what I did but..."

I would've thought with Ambien's reputation people know that if you take it you just kinda gotta roll with whatever happens.

Ambien is just one brand name for Zolpidem.
Sanofi (the manufacturer) has a competent public relations department.
While racism is not a side effect of Zolpidem, it is a side effect of being a crass bigot.

Isn't it ironic that the show that people from the right championed as being proof that America loves Trump was cancelled?
I think I can smell some foreshadowing..............

I got off Ambien because it was causing me to do all kinds of off the wall things
That's why I don't really like the company's response. Ambien is known for making people do strange and unusual things, and not remembering it. Rather than a snarky comment, IMO they should have explained the evidence of how it's not likely she was under the influence of it when she posted that. I don't know to what extent Ambien can distort thinking, but a side effect of it isn't weight gain, but you just might devour the contents of your fridge, which will lead to weight gain.

Been taking ambien for about 2 and a half years--never felt an impulse to tweet whatever nonsense comes into my head...usually make sure there's nothing I need to do after swallowing, except going to sleep...wife hasn't noticed me doing or saying anything odd...and of course, I don't come on RF after I've decided it's time...

Of course, others' milage may vary from mine...

On a side note, I wonder how much of today's racially edgy stuff on TV is accidental? Seems to me that the networks have always been able to target the "rural market" without using racially edgy material or stars when they've wanted to. Green Acres, the Andy Griffith Show, and other such programs are admittedly corn by today's standards, but racism was no less back in their day, and yet they seemed quite capable at the time of avoiding exploiting it in order to amass ratings and profits.

The video mentions Michael Richards from Seinfeld, and how his career never bounced back after a racist comment during a stand-up comedy show... I wasn't even aware of that, but always wondered what happened to him.

...It's a shame he said what he said, but at the same time, I don't think he deserves to be ruined for life.

I think almost all Americans are open to a sincere mea culpa, especially if it is followed by actual changes in behavior. Will we be seeing that from Roseanne? The eternal optimist in me hope so.

When your a celebrity of this caliber, you (from what I see) tend to think you're untouchable. Roseanne dressed up as Hitler with cookies to portray as Jews. That isn't funny. she does not need to be in entertainment. I have no sympathy for Richards or Barer..

Don't be naive. She said she'll stay off twitter and still came back on twitter. I have no optimism for her.

She may have been under its influence, though its influence is more likely to remove your filter than make you say things you don't actually believe.

In all honesty, I've gotta say I DO find this whole thing a bit of a beat up. But if the network felt what she said was grounds for contract termination, well, private company and all that.
