Freedom of speech being the most obvious. Racism isn't acceptable, but a surefire way to empower people you don't want empowered is to repress them. Her being fired is going to double-down Trump supporters who feel threatened by the "PC police," and this case gives confirmation to their world view.

Her freedom of speech wasn't affected. She was free to say what she said. There has been no government censure. "Freedom of speech" gives protection from government prosecution. It doesn't mean you can say anything you like and be immune from any consequences socially or commercially. Indeed, ABCs choice to can her is a form of free speech, which people are also free to speak out against and "vote with their feet" in reslonse to, if they wish, and so on.

A lot of people have dressed up like Hitler, that in and of itself is not evidence of anti semitism. It has been done often to mock the *******, and to mock Nazis, and to thumb your nose at fascists etc. Mel Brooks has done it brilliantly many times for example.

I'm waiting--and I suspect I always will be--for entertainers to realize that by and large, consumers of their work are really not all that interested in their personal political, social, economic and/or religious views...

You are in essence defending Rosanne. There are things that are too painful to make as satire and people don’t understand that because it is not their culture. I don’t see Orthodox Jews from Europe dressing as hitler nor do I see Africans in blackface eating watermelon and making nooses around their necks.

These things are not funny.
