America sides with Taiwan: China angry

Yeah. We just have too much going on here, including record deaths, illness, and suffering. We need to get things under control here first before we could aid anyone in such a way. It would be great globally as a stab to China to face challenges and loss, but right now we just can't.

China would suffer the inconveniences of war too.
We'd need strong allies.

They would, but they have covid way more controlled than we do.
Our presence would basically and inherently violate Geneva rules concerning biological warfare.
Amd of course we have strong allies. England and France, for example, a triad of nations (that includes America) who have long shared iron-clad alliances to the point they sometimes jerk each other around and suck each other into wars that serve their average citizens absolutely no use or good.

China's threat is a very empty. They don't have a functionnal fleet or air force to threaten an Island like Taiwan and its British and American allies. Economical sanctions are more probable and it's not like China and the CPC had any sort of jurisdiction on Taiwan.

Tell that to Xi.

Those tend to make the common citizen suffer far more than the intended targets.

Also I expect the Chinese to be inspired by their own losses,
while we wither from our own.

"America sides with Taiwan: China angry"

No surprise there.

America also supported the claim that the islands in dispute belong to Japan and the Philippines. That does not make Beijing all to happy either

There are good signs that President Biden is working on that first trying to repair the damage the last President caused.

On the contrary. Biden is wisely continuing the policy Trump started of dealing with our adversary wisely. Better war now than later.

I would hope he doesn't pull a "you're either with us or against us" like Bush Jr. did and manipulate others to join. I don't think he would, but US foriegn policy is very black and white.

Xi knows it. It's just bluster. He wants to inflate the strength of his claim and make a show of his irridentism.

Citation please. This sounds a lot like a bunch of malarkey based on eastern stereotypes. Western powers have waged war with and against Imperial China and modern China on several occasions. China doesn't have a good record when it comes to war against western power. In fact, the PLA has even failed to achieve a significant victory over Vietnam during the Sino-Vietnamese War in the 80's and the Chinese army lacks significant experience of combat.

ah no.........Beijing did not like Trump at all..due to economic sanctions.....and they are now not at all happy with Biden either....talking about Taiwan independence and stating the disputed islands belong to other countries...repairs what?
