American politics vs. the 996 work culture model

In China, apparently there is something called the 996 work style, where you might work from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for 6 days a week.

What in your politics is preventing that from happening here.

I can see it being spawned from either the left or the right, as both like efficiency and duty, but I think the right will let us be more susceptible to this. They seem to not care as much about how much you should need to work

So it seems like the u.s. is poised let open the gates to 996, if we're not actually there already. A lot of americans already work more that one job anyway

Sure companies have to pay overtime, but I'm not aware of protections on other costs in life, that I guess go up within inflation.

Therefore if money has to chase those costs, then time worked is amplified

American unions have been weakened severely in the last 50 years, but even in their frail current state I doubt if they would let such employee abuse occur.
If corporations did attempt to use “996”, then those unions would return to their 1960s power base in a matter of months, and the corporations would regret it horribly.

I would also say the unions, even in their somewhat weakened state. And I think we have certain labor laws that might intervene.
