When visiting Canada get used to everyone speaking French thought ALL
speak fluent English.
"don'cha'know eh" is the expression for EVERYTHING!
Lots of babies are born 9 months after a long, bad winter.
All winters are long and bad.
I was talking with a teen age Ojibawa (sp?) native boy and he said
the average snow far in the Far North was 4 FEET and average cold was
- 40 F.
I asked "what do you do when it's 40 below with 4 FEET of snow on the ground?"
He replied, "why nothing!"
Well, DUH!
Many local business owners retire to Florida.
Alcoholism is a real problem there also.
What to do with minus 40 temps and 4 feet of snow on the ground?
If your an American and have a serious medical problem you're up the creek
without a paddle.
They don't take your health care and you don't qualify for their socialized medicine.
Don't get lost in the wildness either.
The local rescue may NOT look for you and the wolves will quickly END your
problems.
Been there done that.
I had a rifle thus I'm still here.
Think you can follow a dirt road to help?
NOT. They are all logging roads that go no place.
The small mosquitoes will carry you away to eat you before the BIG ones
steal you from them.
That black cloud coming at you ISN'T a cloud.

That is not true at all! The average snow is only about 1.22 meters. And yes the average temperature is -40. But that is Celsius. Very different.
These are the important kind of things you need to get right.
Were you trying to be humorous or just not knowing. (being kind here!) 1.22 METERS EQUALS
4.00262467 FEET.
Got that?

I got that information from people that LIVE THERE.
The coldest recorded temp was MINUS Forty two C.

And unfortunately they're not alone in that mission.

I've been in the Far North at least half a dozen times to hunt black bear and go fishing.
It's my impression that Americans are merely tolerated as long as Americans
are spending the bucks.
We were a group of 6 cops on vacation.
My buddy took a nice black bear and we checked it in at the Gov't checking station.
There was a minor issue with his paper work that was prepared by the local gov'ment
office in charge of such.
They ARRESTED him and confiscated his bear and rifle.
I objected as this seemed a mere excuse to arrest someone for a trifle.
The authorities politely requested I shut up or they would confiscate MY TRUCK as
the bear was transported in it and I could walk back to Ohio!
The bear was confiscated and donated to the local Ojbawa tribe (sp?) who would tan the hide
and sell the skull to tourists for large bucks.
Never been back to Canada since and won't go back to spend one red American
cent there.
I didn't care much for the Ojibawa locals.
I got tangled up on one of the too many dirt unmarked roads and stopped inside
an Indian settlement to ask directions.
BIG mistake!
All the people came out of their free gov'ment houses armed with RIFLES so
I left PRONTO!
I got the impression that didn't like white folks much.

Canada is a great place - socialized medicine, no 2nd amendment, progressive government, no pennies, "loonies" - it's a liberal paradise. If you're fleeing the US because a moderate Republican, aka, Hillary, is in office, you want to avoid Canada at all costs.

I long have enjoyed being there, almost moved there in 1970, and regretted the fact that we couldn't do it. However, we're there normally at least once a month since it's only a 20 minute drive from where our place is in da L.P.
