An Atheist On Judgment Day

I'm looking for an internet short story I read a few years back. It was a story about an atheist lining up at the foot of a mountain on Judgment Day, waiting for his turn to be judged by God. What follows is a dialogue between the atheist and God, illustrating the immorality of condemning humans for relying on God-given reason to conclude the nonexistence of God based on a God-given lack of evidence. It's an awesome story and I'm hoping someone here has heard of it, or knows where it can be found. I'd like to link/post it in this thread and discuss it.

Anyone able to post a link?

That was a pretty good story. I especially like the part when she says, "I'm a better person than you." HAHAHA!!!!!! How true this is.

Thats funny(not ha ha funny). That is the same reason I don't believe and would not want to have any thing to do with god if he exsisted.Strange to see it set down in words.

I don't know about you other atheists...but if Judgement Day came, and eternity in hell really did prove to be a prospect I should concern myself with, I'd get down on my knees and plead my case. Heck, I'd hang upside down and bark like a dog, if that's what God wanted. It's easy for we who realize hell is just a fairy tale to sit here and dismiss it, but come on....if it really were true, I'm pretty sure most of us would do pretty much anything to avoid it.

It's a pretty silly story - one is reminded of some petulant kid refusing to go to his room because his parents were "unfair".

Of course it`s silly.
Entertainment doesn`t have to be sensible.

It does however reflect the way I feel about the concept of the Christian God.

It's easy for we who realize hell is just a fairy tale to sit here and dismiss it, but come on....if it really were true,
There is no hell in the story, just something called "Oblivion" which I take as lack of existence.
I would prefer no existence to eternal life with the Biblical God.
I`ts what i`m expecting anyway.

And if I were stuck hanging off of a piece of debris in fatally cold water because the chick taking up all the room was only there because she'd stupidly jumped from her lifeboat back onto the sinking ship earlier that night, I'd push her off and take her spot.

Fortunately, Rose met Jack on the Titanic, and not me :p

The story illustrates a few points (great ones) through the idealised atheist: Rock solid in her convictions, noble to a fault and brazenly unafraid of cosmic omnipotence. It goes without saying that few of us would be the same.

And here I thought the whole 'God on a mountain' thing would have tipped you off that this was an idealised fairy tale ;)

Your analogy is hopelessly inapplicable, and thus any point you're trying to make with it.

I'm going to start another thread on this subject, so the argument I intend to make doesn't start on page 2 ;)

An athiest wont be an atheist on Judgement Day....
Very nice, thank you.

If, when I die, god does turn out to be real, I would change my tune real quick. And if I were lucky enough to have god say, "Come on in", I would shrug my shoulders and think, "Well, 'pride' is a sin, after all," before high-tailing it through those pearly gates!

What a shame you have to wait so long to find out who you really are. Atheists know up front.
