An Unscientific Theory On Religion Forums

Go to an apartment complex where the have those extra large dumpsters, and dig around in there and you will find fully functioning TV's, Microwaves, fax machines computer monitors, chairs, couches, desks, tables, the works. If you are moving into an even marginally ritzy place, chances are you can furnish your entire apartment, carpet included with not trashy stuff. People are simply too lazy to move their stuff and would rather buy new stuff instead.

Hm,ok. I live on the upper west side, and rent is certainly
extremely high.

I do not do conspicuous consumption, because I just
dont want "stuff" and, it gives me no pleasure to
spend and buy "stuff". I have some nice things,
for sure, but most of my best I could put in a box
and walkout the door with it.

As for those who leave behind, I dont get it. Have not
actually observed that, but, if the things go to
someone else's use, I guess they are not wasted.

I really feel true despair for people who have to lie to justify their own faith

No more than I am a fan of any religion, the
more that people who come here bring
discredit to their superstitions, the better.

And who knows maybe lie upon lie will finally
create such a stench rolling up in their nostrils
that it will force an epiphany.

A friend dug out an unmarked, fully working 80 inch hdmi tv from a skip

I doubt it, they are indoctrinated into lying from early childhood, it come as easily to them as any prayer

I don't think they know they are being dishonest.

I've quoted Dr K Wise, the paleontologist who said

I am a young-age creationist because that is my understanding of the Scripture. As I shared with my professors years ago when I was in college, if all the evidence in the universe turned against creationism, I would be the first to admit it, but I would still be a creationist because that is what the Word of God seems to indicate.

And I have cited it as the very definition of intellectual dishonesty.

NONE of the creationists who have responded can see
any dishonesty, rather, they applaud his honesty.

It's honest to lie for the Bible:confused:

Over the last 22 years or so I've been for the most part pretty active on forums like this, religious forums, and I've noticed something over the last decade. I see it here as well. The predominate participant in religious discussion are irreligious. Outspoken or militant skeptics of the Bible and spirituality. Now I understand that my message tends to alienate everyone, believer and unbeliever alike, and truth be told I prefer discussions with atheist because they are more practical than the average believer, who is idealistic IMO, so I'm not complaining, but I am of the opinion that the reason for this is that the believer is quite comfortable in America, but the atheist (in one form or another, I use the term skeptic) is a somewhat repressed minority, politically and socially.

Do you think there is any truth to that?

Or the atheists are just angry, bitter, unrepentant, and on religious forums, have axes to grind, but that's just my informed opinion as someone who frequently interacts with atheists who don't troll religious forums.

I meant nice atheists, not like forum trolls.

The wastefulness is made even more apparent when you travel and return home. Especially if you go to a developing nation. Jibber Crabst! they use everything until it's completely useless then rip it apart and use the working parts to make other stuff last longer. You will find that junk yards are a rarity in a developing country. It's inspiring, buy what you need, not too much, and use it till there is no life left in it. Americans would be a lot richer if they had that mentality.

So when did an atheist ever bomb you?

And to a man /woman, the fundies will support him
as being profoundly honest in his approach, and,
of course, right.

Try it; you will see.
Fundies can never ever allow themselves to be wrong
on anything and, they must always defend their own.

No, I'd guess, but he was you know, attacked by
mobs for speaking the Truth.

They could only have been angry, bitter, axe grinding
unrepentent and, worse, atheists.

Attacked, as in someone said to him "dont talk so much nonsense"?

Whatever it takes to feel "persecuted". For lo, ye prophets
are always attacked, poked with sharp sticks and whatnot.

That is why the safety of an internet forum is the best
place to pretend to be so above and beyond the crowd.

No sharp sticks, and every rebuff is persectuion
confirming the lofty status.
