He won't understand, my friend. But I, for one, am glad to have you around. :)

Thanks man! I was just a little irritated that (his) response was so far off topic. :)

Now we're talking about objective truth, apparently. The fake apology at the end was a real stick in the eye. *sigh*

By the way, I've read a good deal of the [so-called] Old Testament / Hebrew Bible commentaries and they are quite good. It's a bit out of my speciality now, but I've read the Anchor Bible on Genesis, Jeremiah, and Isaiah recently. They are actually worth purchasing in my opinion (I've bought them after reading them in the library).

I'm interested in your opinion if you get around to reading any of the Hebrew Bible stuff. Sadly I don't have time to expand on that end for a while.

I very much enjoyed Samuel, Kings, and Isaiah, although I've yet to read the three-volume Isaiah set end to end. Do you have any thoughts on how Anchor compares with NICOT? (I rather like their two-volume Genesis.)

I treat them as equals. In reality, I really think that the editors of those two series (and a few more) compete for the same scholars to write for them. So in a sense, on one hand it's the same thing in a different package / layout with different focuses with the critical changes being in the individual scholar, their method, and the editing.

So they are of pretty much equal value and I use them side by side.

I'm not sure if this has happened to you, but commentaries for me now bring together material that I've already read. It's very rare for me to read something in a commentary that I haven't seen before, so the experience is very, very different from when I was in undergrad. Now I'm just looking for my name. haha
