Angels with wings?

Every time I see a drawing of an angel, they always have wings. Why? I know there are several religious texts that speaks of Angeles, but they are generally spoken of as God's messengers; but I don't know of any that describes them as actually having wings. Did I miss something here? Where did this idea come from? Does anybody know?

I don't know Abrahamic scriptures that well, but I thought some were described as being somewhat hideous...

Angels are depicted with wings to distinguish angels from humans, and their wings represent their direct link between Heaven and Earth...as liaisons, so to speak.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

Those wings that are generally depicted sure look cumbersome and inefficient!

Some types of angels have wings like the Seraphim, some don’t and some can depending on the task.

It’s pretty well described in the Bible.

There are different types of angels.
The artistic impressions of angels with wings and harps came out of the Renaissance period initially then in modern times it was films and other media that reinforced it into culture.

Ezekiel 1
5 And from the midst of it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had a human likeness,
6 but each had four faces, and each of them had four wings.
