Animosity between Church of Satan members and "other types of Satanism"

That's all well and good but the entire point of this thread is that there is no such thing as "other kinds of Satanism" to any relevant degree, and that anyone else's claim to the contrary is lacking in merit.

Okay. Thanks! That makes some sense. However, so do you specifically worship the Satan in the Bible? Or, if you believe that the ceremonies work, where do you think it comes from? Is it of itself, in your understanding? i would check out the reading list, but i think it'd be frowned upon if i one day walked into my catholic school with a book titled, "Satanism and How to do It" or "Satanism for Dummies" or something. I just don't think the teachers would like it. Peace!

I think it very important to make this clear. Satanism ISN'T about the christian satan. Got absolutely NOTHING to do with christian theology.

However i have a question to the satanists. Is satanism against all right paths, just christianity or the concept of freedom of thought that a great majority of right hand paths discourage?

I once was a satanist. Before that i was a christian, and at some point i realized that being a satanist still means that i am part of the same fake story,i am just the other face of the same coin, still in the cage, but in the dark...Needless to say that i became a atheist, but soon i found out that spirituality is important.I was mislead, but that only means i have to find out the truth for myself. And i think i got it.
Have a look! go 2thedivine1. ...

Hi Vit,

Can i ask why did you leave satanism, what wasn't it offering that christianity is? Please don't take this as rude, im a student of the human mind im just curious?

I'm not against any religion per se. People will choose religions that work with their own natures and needs.

What I am against are what I view as religious values being secularized and incorporated into law.

They are doing what they think is the right thing to do. Regardless of peoples free wiil. Its a beautiful sentiment really.

But i wish they wouldn't.

LaVey's church cant really claim a monopoly on Satanism, especially considering his own philosophy was heavily borrowed from other sources such as Frederich Nietzsche, Ayn Rand, Aleister Crowley, Ragnar Redbeard, etc.

Not heavily borrowed, but influenced as with a whole slew of philosophers and thinkers. He created his own synthesized personal system that is more unique than this common argument suggests.

You're right that they can't claim a monopoly, yet they were the first to use the term in the '60s as a self-identity in a public organizational manner. That does give them a right over your typical incoherent pseudo-intellectual Internet whore using the term for a widely different definition.
