Anocracy is the most immediate threat to the U.S.

It does depend on the user's country.
Because here we have even consumers' unions which are very powerful.
And jurisprudence has showed that if these social media prevent someone from expressing their view, the judge can order this social media (FB or Twitter) to restore their account.
It has happened so many times.
I can quote the most famous one. CasaPound's case on Facebook.

This shows that these social media are American so they do base themselves upon the American notion of freedom of speech.

In my country it is an absolute concept.
In America it isn't an issue of freedom of speech. Here the problem is with user agreements/terms of use. You agree to abide by the platform's rules. That's why here the First doesn't cover it.
But the erosion of our rights when dealing with private firms began long ago.

Our juridic system states that private contracts cannot contain provisions that derogate from constitutional rights.
That is, if the platform says " I decide with this provision what is freedom of speech and what is not" or "what you can say and you can't say", that is a violation of the article 21 (freedom of speech).
And such provision is null and void automatically.
Provisions can be null, but the contract remains valid.
So the user's account must be restored, by law.

Here it's unfortunately becoming more and more common that we only have our rights when dealing with government agencies.

This is what average citizens should be thinking about when they hear that America’s democracy is declining. They are being led, unaware, into a downward spiral of instability, in which extremists and opportunists spread fear — and then grab power by force.
And this is exactly what happened in 20th century Europe that led to the reign of three fascist leaders. And now we see Trump and most of the congressional Republicans emulating this process.
