If someone is actually guilty of a crime worthy of death I have no problem with their suffering (what did their victims go through?). The problem to me is when people are wrongly convicted by overzealous prosecutors who swayed juries simply by their perceived position/ proffesionalism by them

Judicial murder is one of worst thing a civilized society can do. But if we are going to do it, we should go old school and bring back the guillotine. We should also have a crowd throwing roses or rotten fruit at the guilty as we cart them in to be executed. And we should give them a last cigarette and have drums playing as the blade goes down. And of course all of it should be televised.

That's jail time, judicial processing, etc. plus execution.

Keeping inmates is way more expensive

I don't doubt you....

Over 15 - 25 years there must be a lot of additional Court procedures, appeals etc. A single procedure could cost zillions, and since the State will pay for all, this could open the way for massive payments to officials and lawyers for each hearing........... I wonder if such figures are available to citizens under any 'freedom of information' Acts?

In connection with this case/execution I would like to read more background into these murders, because it looks like the convict was 'out of his mind' at the time. I can't find any info on the web.....

The guillotine is actually a beautiful piece of machinery, there is a video of one in the basement of the Reichstag on Youtube. I don't think I could post a link yet, otherwise I would have, maybe I will check into this

When the French executed King Louis --th (?) during the Revolution the guillotine blade failed to severe his neck, and he writhed and screamed whilst flustered executioners hauled it back up and tried again...... and again..... :faint:

Equally, several Brit executions (Mary QofS and Henry V111's minister Cromwell) suffered horribly as the axe missed neck...... to be fair, at Criomwell's beheading the executioner was drunk out of his brains. :faint:

But I like your style..... I would prefer execution by high altitude balloon.... the condemned could freeze or jump. All televised from a plane, of course.

I think they use propaganda like this because the business is so good...same reason they keep them locked up for so long before execution. :tsk:

The innocent tax-payers suffer financially to keep them there while the "industry" gets rich. It's a jacked up system.

Time for penal islands/planets lol

I think we are advanced enough to make a better working guillotine. If we are going to commit judicial murder we might as well make a good show of it whether by balloon and having people shooting at it or by an advanced head chopping machine.

So you have feelings for the condemned?

Homo sum: humani nil a me alienum puto

Je suis un homme, rien de ce qui est humain ne m'est étranger

Ich bin ein Mensch, also ist mir nichts Menschliches fremd

I am human, and there is nothing human that is alien to me.

..Ok?... How do you actualize someone else's words into your living reality?
My grandfather was murdered. My grandmother forgave the people who murder him. And so do I. My grandfather's murderers have families and people in them, should I deprive them of love because I lost a love one?

That's very brave and compassionate of you to say so.

There is a saying that goes "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" I'd say just take the head and be done with it
