Any non drinkers here? I'm not taking about people who only partake occasionally but those who never do. I have had a couple sips of wine and wine cooler in my entire life, never any other alcohol. I was offered moonshine the other night. I thanked the guy and the conversation moved on, so I never really explained that I don't drink. I imagine if I did drink something that strong, it would not have been pretty, lol... Probably would have spit it everywhere. I don't even really have a religious reason for never drinking any alcohol whatsoever.
My wife wanted to reorganize the pantry... We found grape juice from 2012.. and she thought it would all be spoiled and was ready to throw it out, turns out it's just like fresh grape juice. Unless the seal is broken on the canning jar, apparently it doesn't turn to wine.
So that's what prompted this whole discussion. I was thinking about whether I would have tried it if it was fermented.

Me but not by choice, for health reasons. Haven't had an alcoholic drink for at least 2 years. I miss having a beer.

I didn't drink at all until after I graduated high school. I had no real interest in it and all the people I hung out with didn't drink either.

I never drink alcohol because the Baha'i Book of Laws says that we cannot drink alcohol.
The same applies to recreational drugs.

I tried drinking alcohol when I was a young teenager but I did not like the way it made me feel so I only drank a few times.

Once in a while, I might have a beer or two. Maybe a shot a little less often. I'm not much of a wine fan.

It's only maybe once every three or four months that I have a drink, so it's kind of rare.

I no longer drink alcohol, nor use any sort of mood-altering substances since 8 months ago. No caffeine, or nicotine either. These days, I'm as pure as the wind-driven snow. :) It's much healthier mentally and physically, and spiritually I'll add.

Tried any alcohol free ones? Yesterday I tried my 210th different AF beer.

I had to give it up for health reasons, like @John53 , about 3 years ago, in my late 50s. I thought that was that but there is a burgeoning world (Guinness have recently launched their "draught" stout in a can) of alcohol free, - a market being driven by younger people reducing or refraining. In the UK, bars are very slowly improving their offering, supermarkets a little better, but online there is a massive choice of AF, from specialist retailers.

Only once many years ago and it was terrible. I'll have to see what's available these days.
Yes it was terrible, the Barbican era! Might I presumptiously make one or two suggestions?
The best two (imo) online retailers are:

- Sobersauce | Premium Alcohol Free Beers & Lagers

- Alcohol Free Beers | Non Alcoholic Beer | Wise Bartender

You can get a mixed case from either if you wanted. Or you can put your own together.

Or there's a decent blog ( ;) ) you could check out:

- BEERS WITHOUT FEARS

You could scroll through checking for those that score a 5 or else click on the style labels under each review to pull up the others in the same style. Or very presumptiously I could suggest a mixed case for you, if you tell me which styles you particularly like and/or dislike.

Whatever. :)

I was fooled by the "Newcastle" !
I've noticed Australia getting some mentions in the online socials. As a guess you might see beers from Mikkeller (Weird Weather is a fab wheat style pale), Big Drop and Drop Bear (the latter is in Wales but was set up by two lasses, one of whom is an Aussie :) )

I haven't had a drink in 11 years.

Initially I drank on special occasions but the people whom I wanted to go with didn't go with me despite much anticipation (they did not come to my 19th birthday outing but had a stag night [bachelor party]) 3 weeks later and didn't invite me.

I went to a kickboxing competition far away with University friends and got drunk at the afterparty: lucky to take a cab to the hotel because I was so drunk and didn't really enjoy being out of control.

I've pretty much dumped caffeine. I used to drink Mt Dew constantly. It really does alter your moods and let's be honest it's an " upper" that wears off and creates a craving for more. I'm also getting more into intentional exercise everyday.... and trying not to eat as many carbs.

Just read Lowtide is going to be available in Australia (the British brewery, not the American). If you see their Brune-DMC just buy it!

I was just looking on the website of the local bottleshop and all the imported NA beers are out of stock. There's a fair selection of local stuff, I'll give some a try. The reviews crack me up, they're either best NA beer ever or worst NA beer I've tried. No middle ground just like regular beer lol
