Anyone playing Mega Millions tonight?

Nah. But I'm not going to fault anyone trying.

My only question/concern.... what would anyone do with all that money? If you get it can you keep it? :D

I'd spend a lot paying off debts of all family/closest friends, and setting up long term investments for my kids.

I'd splurge a little on property and a nice car.

I'd throw a bunch at charities...or more hopefully start some sort of ongoing grants or charity fund.

I'd invest/buy a sports team, more at the grassroots level where my money could make a difference to participation, equitable treatment of all participants, and try to be a model sporting club for inclusiveness.

With whatever I had left, I'd build a big ol' Scrooge McDuck bin, and go coin diving, of course.

lotteries are examples of low probability/high consequence outcomes...

I'm not sure how I'd spend and invest the money...certainly, there are several nonprofits that I think should get a dollop...and I might consider supporting certain candidates or opposing others...

I have played Mega Millions only twice before today. I'd spent two dollars trying to win the billion-dollar jackpot prize on January 22,2021 as well as I had spent two dollars in a failed attempt to win a billion-dollar jackpot prize on October 23rd, 2018. I bought a Mega Millions ticket today in my third attempt at winning a billion-dollar jackpot prize, I figure I am overdue to win, the third time is a charm!

Good luck, but I'm only saying that because I bought a few more tickets than you so you need it somewhat more. :p

Oh well. if I don't win the Mega Millions then maybe at least I might gain $10 from my two- dollar wager on Ohio State to win the college football championship! .. Go Buckeyes! ...:)

I know I didn't win. Lol. Oh, well. It was still fun. When it goes up really high again, I'll buy another. The lottery will never be a habit of mine.

The drawing is in about 2 hours. Yeah, I know the Lottery is a scam, but it doesn't hurt to try when it's inflated like this. If you take the lump sum, it's still over $600 million. Boy, what I'd do with that money!

No, and will not in the future.

Happy to work for a wage.

True, but it is no fun being hit by lightning.

For me it is a cheap $2.00 dream. Tickets used to be one buck, now they are two. I won't buy any more than that since my odds of losing are almost identical no matter how many tickets that I buy

Also I think that it is finally over the "break even" point. What I call the break even point is when the odds of winning matches your net win of the lottery. The 1.2 billion dollar figure applies only if you get it paid out over something like 20 years. It is less than half that if you take all of the cash right away. Second the US government is going to take a very very healthy chunk of that case for itself.

Okay, I did a quick check. If one takes the lump sum it is about 60% of the total. so we are already down to $700,000 With federal taxes you would be down to about $450 million. The good news, the odds of winning are 1 in 303 million. So as long as only one person wins he did better than breaking even.

You're not even American, so obviously you're not playing it, anyway.

I'm happy to work for wages that are much higher than the garbage pay I currently make.

When we find unity, fairness in wages will most likely happen. But why trillions are spent on war, destruction, games of chance and hard core gambling, we will never find unity.

The lotteries depend on greed. It would be a lot more equitable, as my wife Sara says, if they divided the prize into $10,000 allotments. In my opinion, they don't want to do that because then less people would be suckers for the lottery.

I couldn't care less about winning myself a billion dollars. Besides, in my opinion, that is gambling, and the Baha'i Faith prohibits gambling precisely because people sometimes get addicted to gambling and and lose everything.
