AOC posts grandmother's home situation. Refuses conservative fundraising aid to help her.

So answer the question then.

Why did AOC use her grandmother on social media, made a very public rant using interior photos of her grandmothers damaged home, and then never bothered to help her?
Wasn't she highlighting the lack of aid Puerto Ricans have recieved and got caught out by a humorous ploy?

Has AOC her grandmother said anything suggesting that she refuses to help her?

I wouldn't take money from a right-wing talk show host either.

I have a tough time believing the fundraising efforts took place in good faith. If I had to guess, Matt Walsh ironically did this in an attempt to set AOC up. She has no play here. What are the legal hoops necessary for something like this to happen? Even if she did take it, what does Walsh expect in return? What obligations are AOC expected to undertake? If you think the needless political hate AOC takes is bad now, just wait if she went on record accepting this.

Come on, we all know this was a lose/lose for her. She was making a fairly accurate observation and Walsh decided to politically exploit it to make her look bad.

Let Grandma suffer so that you don’t look bad accepting aid. Great logic.

Well, I just took a quick scan through her tweets and found one that says, "And for the record, my abuela is doing okay. It's not about us, but what's happening to Puerto Rican's across the island. She had a place to go and be cared for - what about the thousands of people who don't?"

So for everyone who was so very genuinely concerned about her grandmother (;)) don't worry, she's being taken care of. I bet you're super relieved now, right?

What happened is AOC publicly posts the interior of her grandmothers home on social media and harshly critized how relief aid was never forwarded to help victims of disaster. Particularly Puerto Rico victims for this case.

Fair enough call, but when she was accused of not helping her own grandmother, sharing her own wealth to make life better for her grandmother, she refuses to help her making excuse after excuse why she won't.

So a conservative fundraiser was started to help her grandmother out since AOC won't, and it was a great success raising a considerable amount.

The money raised was then offered to aid her grandmother, and it was refused leaving her grandmother to remain in the same situation.

A right-wing writer who crowdfunded $100,000 to repair the Puerto Rico home of AOC's grandmother says she declined to accept the money

AOC doesn't want to share her own wealth to help even personal family members, but politically she expects that to be the case for other people to share their wealth with strangers. This is hypocritical behavior.

This is why politics fail.

This is why people never are better off because...

1) Politictions don't lead by example nor follow their own philosophy.

2) Bi-partisanship is a pipe dream for as long as this two party monopoly exists.

3) Social Media implementation using people, including own family, as chessboard pawns for political positioning and activism.

It's a sad thing and grandmother gets nothing.
I won't jump in to defend her b/c she has so far offered not to comment. But there are a myriad of reasons why her grandmother's house looks like this. Even if she has the money to fix it (from AOC or whomever) the shortage of materials and wait time for constructive repair (both of which were things that could have been helped if Trump had given them aid as a country) are challenges. Even if AOC is an evil mean mistress of communism and refused to help her poor pitiful grandmother she is still correct in her point. The point being that millions of Puerto Ricans are facing a terrible crisis to this day and she has pushed for policies that would aid them. Its less about the personal issues of a single old woman and the incredible amount of damage an entire country (of American's btw) is going through.

I was curious why AOC might turn down free money, so I
clicked on the link to the GoFundMe campaign. Perhaps
there was mischievous agenda laden language?
But I saw "Campaign Not Found".
I really think is the image of accepting money in the open as a political figure. If she wants to do that, she needs to find some lobbyists just like everyone else in DC!

What's peculiar is this is not a Trump administration anymore.

The question now is asking why hasn't anything been done by Biden administration to help with repairing damages and getting people back on track?

It's sad AOC has such a great family success story, but she herself is shallow and superficial with anything that she says or does.

Biden's plan that AOC supports I believe is attempting to send 1.3 billion in aid to Puerto Rico

I hear this a lot. I don't defend politicians much but what are you talking about?

If someone who attempts to take something out of context from a post of yours and then makes a petty 100k fundraiser to give to your grandmother SPECIFICALLY to make her look bad and it gets refused what are we to think? Surely you don't think that the nice lovely libertarian's fundraiser raised money because they care about the grandmother do you? Do you think that there was incentive for the family to not take this money? Especially if they supported their granddaughter?
