Prior to being medically released from compulsory military service several months ago, my posting style was different from how it is now. Looking back, I believe I was sometimes unnecessarily hostile and a bit too focused on individual opinions rather than the full picture of some of the people I talked to. This outlook paved the way for some hostility toward those whose opinions on certain issues I found strongly objectionable.
Since then, I've made more friends with diametrically opposite beliefs to mine and seen multiple examples--in the army in particular--that text-only communication can erode this more personal aspect of interaction and make it easier to treat someone as if there were nothing more to them than their opinions.
I apologize to anyone I've been unnecessarily hostile to before as well as anyone I may have hurt by doing so. I appreciate this community and am glad the forum provides so many of us with insight into perspectives that we may not encounter otherwise.
Cheers!
