Apostates of Islam

Fatihah

Well-Known Member
The hadiths do not have authority over the qur'an. In other words, the hadiths can not have a law mentioned for islam that the qur'an does not./quote]

Okay, how come then muslims cut boys' genitals when Quran doesn't mention circumcision at all?(End quote)

Response: If you want to know, you'll have to ask those who perform it.

And regards to apostasy. Again people can debate over words in books and what is valid and what is not. But the reality is that apostates are treated horribly, there is no religious freedom and we are often talk about life and death situation. It is totaliarism and worst kind of theocracy.

So since people are mostly forced to be muslims there is no way knowing how many people actually would be muslims IF muslims would be granted the basic human right; Freedom of religion.(End quote)

Response: People are not mostly forced to be muslims.

So let me get this. If a man is born a Muslim, and after years of thought comes to believe that there is no Allah or any other God, and decides is no longer a Muslim, how should other Muslims treat him?

Response: It depends on how he treats the muslims. If he's peaceful, so should we.

Its strange,i cannot find Apostates in other religions, obviously some people in other religions leave or move to another religion or atheism but its no big deal.
Why is it such a big deal in Islam ,how many more Apostates of Islam would there be if there was'nt a fear of retribution from others including Family.

Yes they are. READ. Read the laws of countries where Islam is the main faith. Get to know how apostates are treated in real life in muslim countries or in muslim societies in west. Hear the voices of apostates, there are countless amount of refugees who have fled from their country because they have left Islam and face death.

It is a real problem. A human rights problem.

Again. It is more important to make religion look perfect than look at the problems in it, not caring the victims?

Anyone can study the issue. Just type apostasy and islam. And you will find human rights reports, even sites that are promoting Islam admit that death sentence is there for apostates.

Its death for males and imprisonment for Females until they reaffirm or die

It is a real problem. A human rights problem.

Very real and against the Declaration of Human Rights.

I'm afraid that can apply to not only Islam

Anyone can study the issue. Just type apostasy and islam. And you will find human rights reports, even sites that are promoting Islam admit that death sentence is there for apostates.

Response: The law of islam comes from the qur'an and the sunnah. Just because a website says something is true is not proof that it's actually true. Most people are not forced to be muslims and a website saying that such is the case is not actual proof that it is the case. Based on your logic, we can also state for a fact that Tupac is still alive, all religions are true, etc., because after all, according to your logic, we can find a site or info stating that it is true, which is proof enough. Surely, anyone can see that this kind of proof is not proof at all.

This from Islamonline:

An apostate is one who embraces Islam, or in some other opinions, who is born a Muslim, and then decides to leave Islam.

As for dealing with him, there are different opinions about dealing with the apostate. Most scholars are of the opinion that he should be informed and asked to recant. If after clarification he insists on his position then he should be executed. Other scholars are of the opinion that since the Qur’an affirms freedom of religions, apostasy is left to the individual as real accountability will be in the Day of Judgment. Still other scholars, while considering apostasy as an infraction and a potential threat to the stability and integrity of an Islamic state, they do not find decisive and definitive evidence that the apostate should be executed. At most he may be subject to a discretionary punishment depending on the harm to society caused by his apostasy.

Its because of these:These hdadiths are reported in Al-Bukhari, the most authentic collection of hadith, in the book of Al-Ahkaam which is found in the English translation by M. Mohsen Khan, Volume 9, hadith number 316, 318, and 323, pages 241, 242, and 246. They are also reported in Fath Al-Bari, volume 13 under Kitab Al-Ahkam, hadith number 7209, 7211, and 7216.

In March 2006, an Afghan citizen Abdul Rahman was charged with apostasy and could have faced the death penalty for converting to Christianity. His case attracted much international attention with Western countries condemning Afghanistan for persecuting a convert. Charges against Abdul Rahman were dismissed on technical grounds by the Afghan court after intervention by the president Hamid Karzai. He was released and left the country to find refuge in Italy. [34]
Two other Afghan converts to Christianity were arrested in March and their fate is unknown. In February, yet other converts had their homes raided by police.
In Islamic law (sharia), the consensus view is that a male apostate must be put to death unless he suffers from a mental disorder or converted under duress, for example, due to an imminent danger of being killed. A female apostate must be either executed, according to Shafi'i, Maliki, and Hanbali schools of Sunni Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), or imprisoned until she reverts to Islam as advocated by the Sunni Hanafi school and by Shi'a scholars.[19][/quote]
