The Bible’s story and how everything came to be is called Creation , made by a Creator. Evolution is a direct contradiction.
Evolution is the science that explains HOW biological mechanisms for changes in life over period of time, but “time” as in “generations”, not in “years”.
These changes occurred in small increments, from generation to generation, so among animals, the changes are passed on through genetics, from parents to offspring.
These small changes may not be observable in a few generations (unless the organisms are of bacteria species), but accumulation of many generations of small changes can result in notable physical changes.
To understand Evolution, you would require understanding of genetics and molecular biology, and it dependent on what organisms (eg bacteria, archaea, plants, fungi, animals) each biologists are studying or researching on.
Most biologists only worked in very specific fields, so in general, most biologists have never studied paleontology.
Paleontology is a very specialized field in which studied the fossils of organisms. They not only need to study biology and evolution, they must also have knowledge in geology, which would include minerals, rocks and layers of rocks (strata, so knowledge in stratigraphy).
Paleontologists need this information about strata, rocks and minerals, because most fossilization occurred when dead organisms are buried by layers of soils and rocks, minerals get into bones (permineralization), which start the process of fossilization.
The Bible, particularly offered no explanations to biology, nor explanations as to how and why life change over times.
Genesis 1 & 2 saying that god created plants (day 3), marine life & winged fowls (day 5), and all animals that walk or crawl on land, plus the creation of humans (day 6)...none of these descriptions in Genesis narratives are considered explanations of biology of each ones that were mentioned.
To give you some examples, read this passage:
“Genesis 1:20 said:
20 And God said, “Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky.” 21 So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, of every kind, with which the waters swarm, and every winged bird of every kind.
That’s all Genesis say about marine life and birds: fishes swim in water and birds with wings can fly.
Even illiterate Neolithic fishermen, hunters and farmers know that much about fishes and birds, without any scientific knowledge whatsoever.
There are nothing profoundly knowledgeable in Genesis. Certainly Genesis shared no knowledge of anatomy and physiology of birds and fishes.
Other than saying birds have wings, there are more than just wings to allow birds to fly, like the locomotives of bones, muscles and joints of shoulders and wings, the hollowness of bones that provide circulation of air in their bodies (hence their lightness in weight), the feathers that aerodynamics of the birds, the bird’s tail that allow them turn left or right or go up and down.
The Genesis just saying birds have wings can fly, is just very vague description, that even 4 year old child would know.
Plus, just because birds have wings, it don’t always facilitate flight for birds. Penguins and the extinct auks, were incapable of flight, but they are excellent swimmers. Their feet and wings are what give them propulsion in water.
And emus and ostriches are noted for being able to run on their powerful legs, but their wings are too weak to support flight.
In that passage I have quoted, it speak of god creating many “kinds” of marine life and many kinds of birds, but the word “kind” is rather vague, to be almost useless. And creation on day 6 is no better.
Evolution explained not only specific species but also how they are related to each other, and how those changes may have occurred to cause speciation.
Genesis 1 don’t say anything that are useful in the modern world, and certainly don’t contribute anything to biological sciences..
