Are Christians persecuted in the United States?

Persecution in the historical sense means that people are either:

1. Killed
2. Beaten
3. Raped
4. Mutilated
5. Tortured
6. Imprisioned

for being a Christian.

Christians in the United States are rarely persecuted in this way.

I figured, and my answer is still no. They are the majority in this country, they aren't as 'persecuted' as they like you to believe. Though that comment is more towards the Protestants then the Catholics. The Catholics get a fair share of crap from people as well.

Not as nearly as much as they claim. They are a huge majority (Over 75%?)

It is usually the minorities that are persecuted much more often. (Atheists, Homosexuals, ect)

There's the crux of the issue. Whenever I've seen/heard a Christian saying they were being persecuted, it was because some minority group was challenging their status quo.

There's the crux of the issue. Whenever I've seen/heard a Christian saying they were being persecuted, it was because some minority group was challenging their status quo.

That and the fact they aren't allowed to spread their version of the truth in schools.

Americans, in general, are pretty spoiled. Particularly the majority who don't have much to worry about. Since we don't have to deal with as much physical persecution as in other countries we tend to be overly sensitive to minor disagreements.

Yes, as evidence of that persecution I advance the fact that nearly all of our most powerful elected representatives are...Christian.

It's truly awful that they are tortured in this way, being forced into such lowly estate.
