Are Christians polytheists?

i didn't say he had sex with Mary, like greek gods use to do.
I said he impregnated her, wich is the correct definition considering she got pregnant.
Joseph was legal father but still God was the real father, otherwise would make no sense to call Jesus "the son of god" you would call him "son of joseph".
therefore either Mary is to be considered the "celestial" ( if you prefer ) wife of god or is technically correct to assume Jesus as a B....... ( i don't write it down fully to not appear too rude but you got the point i suppose ).

you call it yourself "The holy family", a christian family is a mother, a father and one or more sons, therefore she must be that.
Apparently, Mary is referred to as the Bride of the Holy Spirit. I'm rather "out of practice" when it comes to apologetics, so you'll have to excuse me.

Unlike Jews and Muslims, Christians worship holy spirit and Jesus pbuh. They also worship saints and virgin Mary pbuh.

So they are clearly Polytheists.

Do u agree?
Not entirely. Some Christian sects are trinitarian. Some reject the doctrine of the trinity having same opinion as you that those are polytheistic. How Mary is viewed is also in respect to the particular denomination. I know what you are trying to say but it is over generalized.

Because we have a saying from Umar r.a. He said: I know you(stone) cannot benefit me nor harm me, if the prophet pbuh didnt kissed u i would never have kissed u.

So the stone is just symbolic direction of prayer. It has no power at all.

U can compare it to Jewish wall.

But christians say Mary can hear us and forgive our sins!
They say the same about saints and jesus pbuh.

So that is clearcut idolatry.
What you are describing is loosely related to Catholicism. This view of Mary and the saints having such abilities is not adhered to by any denomination that I know of but of course I cannot speak for all branches of Christianity.

Yes, I know that in some childish minds calling Christians Polytheists is somehow a 'win' for your own religion but let's be realistic shall we?

Catholics, although they pray to their saints and to mary, they do not deify them. So no, they are not Polytheists.
Trinitarians, although they deify Jesus, also don't consider Him a different entity to God Himself so no, they are also not Polytheists.

Why are Christians not Polytheists? Simply because they do not believe there exists more than one God.

So please, give it a rest.

I agree that Christianity is polytheistic but for different reasons. The fact that a creation of God is called God is pure polytheism and paganism. There is no basis for monotheism if the creation is worshipped equally to the Creator.

Also in Islaam we have the same issues with the Shiite 'muslims' who pray to the family of Muhammed PBUH and ask them for help in life, forgiveness.
Would you call them polytheistic aswell?

Christians do not believe that God is One. According to the majority of Christians, God is not just God and end of story. It is believed that God is divided and not just One God. God is God, His son is God and His spirit is God. Ergo polytheism:)

I think that holds true for religions that believe in one God. It wouldn't make much of a religion if there were no beliefs, prophets, martyrs etc around God.

I'm going echo Augustus here. To my mind, the holy spirit, Jesus and (in some cases) the saints could well be considered a polytheistic pantheon. Similarly, prayer and miracles aren't so different from magic to my mind.

I'm not a Christian though. The way I view these things is pretty much irrelevant to the way a Christian views them.

Take their word for it, Christians are monotheists.

God is Absolute. There is nothing like Him, and everything He creates is not part of Him. He is One. I think there is nothing more simple than that. Everything beyond that is polytheism or atleast a form of polytheism.

Yes, they do.
Trinitarians still believe God is only one God. Ergo, Monotheism.

Well you already believe it's a He and the He creates something and that He is only one. And that there are/were people who knew exactly what He wanted. So just God being God isn't the end of that story.

No.

Bowing, prayer to, offerings are only acts

When done to God, it is worship.
When done to saints, etc its venerence.

Its the spirit/intent behind the action. My bowing to an elder is not worship, its respect.

The trinity has a whole nother discussion of its own. Id say no. One God.

Polythiest believe in more than one god/diety
Monotheist believe in one god

Christianity always says "We believe in One God, the Father almighty. One Son. One Holy Spirit" God being a title for all three natures that make up One person.

I am One person. I have, say, three natures. I am a daughter. I am a spirit. I am mother (pretend). But I am one person.

Christianity has always said there is one god no matter how complicated his nature is.

Completely monotheistic.

I dont know guys, but Christians left monotheism the second they said God , Son and Holy Spirit.

Muslims and Jews say ONLY ONE GOD

A true Monotheist says Only God, not holy spirit and jesus pbuh.

Jesus is a creation according to Muslims and Jews. We Christians say that Jesus is not a creation; rather, according to the Gospel of John (John 1:1-3), we Christians say that Jesus Himself is the Creator, not a creation. Therefore, Jesus is God, not a mere man. God is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit--the Trinity, one in essence and undivided.

It's alright if you don't understand what we Christians teach. But don't go around making judgements as to what we do or don't believe when you don't know what it is that we believe in the first place.
