Are demons real?

And you see no untested assumptions or confirmation bias problems in any of those measures to eliminate other likely explanations?

I believe if you are asking the question that you think you do but I will try this just for fun.

Is my will tested? How can one ascertain ones will? It seems pretty obvious to me that one ought to know what one wants and that can only be self evaluated. I do not see comfirmation bias in this because I had no axe to grind to see my will as anything more than it is.

Nah, demons are just the ancient, ignorant, explanation of such villainy.

I have been watching "Outlander" and there is a scene where an illness is attributed to demons. However the subject was not conscious enough to say whether he thought it was or not. I am not superstitious. I do not see a demon behind every bad event and I think those who do are mistaken. I certainly have not attributed any of my illnesses to the supernatural but the Bible does talk about God inflicting contagion on sinful people. What was it that slew the first born of Egypt? I believe some have speculated that it was contagion.

Eternal punishment by demons (ex-wives) and a literal hell exists in the form of child support!:mad:

I believe there are cases of levitation but if a person believes it isn't reality then one will not be able to do it. One can't simply think things to levitate and have it happen. I know because I have tried.
Yes nobody has ever shown that they can levitate anything, that is by the mind.

I believe the saying is that hell hath no fury as a woman scorned.

I believe the case that comes to mind was a well known Jesuit teacher in France (not sure if it was Ignatius) whose body levitated while he meditated. I believe meditation taps into the spiritual side and does not necessarily involve thinking but it does involve the mind.

Not Ignatius becuase he was Spanish. St Francis of Assissi came up on Wikipedia but He was Italien.

But did he really levitate, there are people who can levitate but its all tricks, most only see what they want to see.

I don't beleive sincere Christians are into tricks. The report is that he levitated. The other reference in Wikipedia was to yogis who also meditate.

In that order?

It is dependent on belief. I have a strong belief in aspirin and my immune system. I believe prayer worked well to get rid of my arthritis. Belief is difficult. One can wish to believe but that won't make it happen any more than wishing I could leviitate a book will get me to believe it will happen.

I don't believe I have ever heard of a connection of viruses or bacteria t demons. I would like to hear that explained if you can.

I don't believe fear of demons is the same thing as demon but I can imagine that demons do frighten people. Certainly my wife reported being frightened by one. I wasn't frightened by mine in my experience but it was a bother.

I believe there is an association of demons with mental illness but I doubt one will ever get a materialist to admit it and most professionals in the field are materialists.

I have referenced my wife's experience so now I will say what that was.

My wife was playing with a ouija board. She was an agnostic and did not believe in spirits but somehow she got the board to spell out words in Latin: ecce homo. My wife didn't know any Latin so asked me the meaning. It means "Behold the man " and was spoken by Pilot after presenting Jesus after His scourging. I knew that because I had seen it in a movie and it is possible my wife picked that up in her subconcious from the same movie. Later my wife was napping on the couch and tried to get up but a hand on her back was preventing her. She called out my name thinking it was me but there was no repsonse so she became afraid and started singing "Jesus Loves Me." As she was singing the hand was removed from her back and she was able to get up.

I can't categorically state that this was a demon but it did have similar attributes. There have been other cases involving the ouija board in fiction ie a movie called "Witchboard." also the departing of the probelm at the name of Jesus is similar.
